⭐ Honest & Fair Review: RedDoorz near Gaisano Mall (Cheds Apartelle), General Santos City
I booked my stay through Agoda at RedDoorz near Gaisano Mall – Cheds Apartelle in General Santos City. Overall, I had a decent and comfortable stay, especially considering the price. There are some things to keep in mind, particularly when it comes to accessibility and transportation.
📍 Accessibility – 3.5/5
If you’re new to General Santos City, I would recommend booking a Grab going to the property, especially if you have luggage. The place is a little out of the way and can be tricky to find if you’re unfamiliar with the area.
It is located inside a subdivision and is walkable from the General Santos National Highway, near Gaisano Mall and across from the area where Starbucks is located. Walking from the highway takes me less than 20 minutes, depending on your pace. The entire road going into the subdivision is concrete, so the walk itself is manageable.
If you prefer commuting, you can take a tricycle, but I suggest being clear about the fare before riding and confirming the agreed price to avoid misunderstandings, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the usual local rates.
🚕 Transportation – 3.5/5
For convenience, I recommend booking a Grab, particularly if you're carrying bags. Otherwise, tricycles are available, but you may need a little patience to find one and negotiate the fare.
If you have your own vehicle, that would obviously make getting around much easier.
🍜 Food & Nearby Options – 3.5/5
There is a small sari-sari store right in front of the property, which is convenient for basic snacks and necessities. There is also a Neighborhood Café beside the property.
During my stay, GrabFood was not available in the immediate area, but Foodpanda was available. This may vary depending on the time and availability of riders, though.
According to the front desk, there is also a nearby unli-grill restaurant that opens around 3:00 PM, so guests have a few food options nearby.
🛍️ Nearby Leisure & Establishments – 4/5
The location is reasonably close to several establishments, including SM City General Santos, Gaisano Mall, KCC Mall, Robinsons Place, and other shops and establishments around the city.
For entertainment and other activities, you can always search Google. 😅
🛏️ Room & Accommodation – 4/5
I paid ₱2,173 for a 2-night stay, which I think was reasonable for the room I received.
I was actually given a room intended for 3 people, even though I was traveling solo. 😂 So I had plenty of space to myself!
The room was quite spacious for the price, and overall, I found it comfortable enough for my stay.
✨ Room Amenities & Cleanliness – 4/5
The room was clean, including the restroom, which was also surprisingly spacious. The beddings were nice and comfortable, and the air-conditioning was cool enough to keep the room comfortable.
There was also:
- 📺 TV with a good selection/line
- 👗 Cabinet for clothes
- 🪑 Small table for two
- 🪑 One extra chair
- 📱 Wi-Fi
One thing to note: I had difficulty connecting my devices to the Wi-Fi. I was unable to connect properly during my stay, so this may be something the management could improve or check.
⭐ Overall
For ₱2,173 for two nights, I would say the accommodation was reasonable and comfortable, especially if you’re looking for a simple place to stay without expecting a luxury hotel experience.
The biggest downside for me was the location/accessibility, particularly if you're unfamiliar with General Santos City or relying on public transportation. However, once you get familiar with the area, it becomes manageable.
Would I stay again?
For the price and the spacious, clean room, I would consider staying here again, especially if I had my own transportation or could easily book a Grab.
Overall, a decent budget accommodation in General Santos City—just come prepared for the slightly tucked-away location and transportation situation. 😊
