Visiting Oxford

Self contained lodge, well equipped, easy to find and a great position for visiting Oxford. Lovely lodge to stay in, quiet and pleasant area. Very good price.

Double bed was too soft for me, but that's more a personal thing, may be suitable for other people. Everything else was perfect.

Good accommodation for a short stay

The location was perfect for us, visiting Didcot Railway Centre. It's in a quiet area, and luckily, we had quiet neighbours too, in the other lodges. The beds were comfortable, though I nearly started my review like 'OMG the worst mattress ever, all the springs were sticking out...' but this was due to the single bed's mattress being upside down for some reason!!?? :-o Thank heavens, I realised it, and we turned it over, so I can confirm, the beds are comfy :D (We were in Lodge 3) Though the clothes hangers in the small room were really dusty, and the toilet looked like the cleaner must have emptied the toilet brush holder into it and forgot to flush it (yuck), the rest of the lodge was clean.

Some small things that would make a big change: A lamp would be great above the dining table, as the lodge is quite dark and there's no light above it. Also, the lights for the sink shouldn't come from behind you, which creates a big shadow on your washing up, not seeing what you're doing. As I said, small things that would make the 'ok' experience into 'great'. There aren't many pots and pans (just one each, really), this didn't bother us for our one-night stay, but wouldn't be great had we spent a week there, trying to cook to save on going out every day.

Just what we needed, we would stay here again.

Location was perfect, the red kites were an unexpected bonus! We were kindly provided with a travel cot, which was excellent. The space was perfect for what we needed and was great for our one year old to crawl round safely, although he was quite grubby by the time he’d finished.

Some of the crockery needed washing before use and the extractor in the bathroom couldn’t cope, so nothing dried and black mould was beginning to form. The glass shower screen was also loose, which might have had consequences had our son been allowed near it. Double beds need a bedside light on both sides! Just small details, but enough to make a difference between very good and excellent. A little info would have been useful, such as the nearest launderette, as there didn’t appear to be laundry facilities on site.

Would stay there again

Location was great it was 3 doors away from my daughter, don't eat breakfast so none was provided. Very surprised how clean the premises where.
