Lakeside Cottage

Very well appointed and comfortable little cottage in a superb location. It features 2 lounges, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and 2 bedrooms - 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs. Good appliances, nice quality furniture. It is delightfully quiet (provided there isn't a wedding going on and the adjacent wedding 'pods' full of people) and lovely walks around the grounds available on the doorstep. We found when we tried to do some cooking that there was a noticeable lack of equipment - 2 saucepans and a couple of wobbly plastic spoons. We called the Capesthorne Team and they responded brilliantly by bringing in brand new extra equipment the next morning, and repaired a stool that the top had come off - much appreciated.

Couple of minor things. The main bedroom has a wardrobe, but no drawers so there really isn't anywhere to put underwear/t-shirts etc. We brought the chest of drawers down from the other bedroom to use for our stay and put them back. The shower tray in the en-suite bathroom is very slippery and my wife nearly fell over in it a couple of times. It could do with an anti-slip mat.

Beautiful location and surrounding gardens, Lovely and quiet - you could hear the birds singing, geese and pheasants honking etc. A lovely well equipped little cottage to stay in.

Only one small issue.

Needs a proper dining table of some sort like the spare lounge area. Impossible for a family to eat a large home cooked meal off a 2 seat breakfast bar. No hair dryer. No basic egg slice for frying pan which was a pain. Main bed stunning but very sagging mattress. Covid is over. Let’s get back to earlier check-ins. We were the only people on the village but denied earlier access even though driving from Southampton. Four pm is too late and it shouldn’t take six hours to clean a cottage. People lose a precious few hours on arrival
