There was a thick layer of dust underneath our bed. Didn’t see this until the last day when I was looking for something. Having somewhere to hang wet clothing would’ve been helpful. The toilet seat lid was broken. A small cartoon of milk would’ve been a nice touch.

Stunning location, lots of maintenance needed.

The location was stunning, wild and secluded, perfect for a quiet getaway. Brand new BBQ which was great.

Lots of maintenance issues unfortunately. Upon looking at how the bath with views operated the tap mechanism was broken and had been for some time, we messaged the owners who didn't respond until the next day so we didn't get to enjoy this facility as it was raining the next evening. The tap handle in the kitchen fell off, the door would not lock and the key could not be removed so zero security when leaving the premises. The shower drain was blocked up and you had to cut your shower short or the base overflowed. The linen was pretty average with tea towels being very stained. Mouse poo was found in bowls. First impressions were most things could do with a good spruce up. Outdoor furniture out the back was stained and uninviting. Such a shame as what we paid we thought all these items would have been attended to.

Gorgeous, secluded location that makes you feel at peace and refreshed.

I appreciate the in depth instructions on how to find the property and also the friendly phone call from Tom that the accommodation as available for our arrival at anytime. There was a lovely note and bottle of wine in the fridge upon arrival which was absolutely wonderful. Driving down to the location you are greeted with a stunning view of the vast coast. The property is located on the top of a small hill that gives an impressive view of the water and area. The rooms were cute and tidy and it was amazing to disconnect from technology and enjoy the view of the setting sun. At night the stars are incredible and we could even see the milky way. The property is very private and in the morning I enjoyed a lovely mimosa while soaking in the outdoor tub taking in the beautiful morning. Tom and Sarah made my stay easy and wonderful and I would love to visit again.

Would have been helpful if there were hooks for the doors and windows to latch so I wasn't afraid that the coastal wind would slam them. A microwave also would have been helpful as I brought some food but was unable to heat it up. There is only a small stove top and outdoor BBQ.

The Sea View Retreat was truly a peaceful getaway. The instructions from Tom & Sarah were super clear, so it was easy to find the place. The location is perfect — quiet, private, with stunning ocean views. I also appreciated the small thoughtful touches, like the welcome gift of a bottle of wine. Everything felt well prepared and cared for. I’d love to come back again!

Stunning location with unbeatable luxury of an outdoor bath

Spectacular location! The outdoor bath was truely luxurious. This is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for an escape from busy city life. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, this cabin is remote so could be tricky to find but their instructions were easy to follow.

Unfortunately the bedding may have been put away damp and smelt extremely musty, which was very unpleasant but honest mistake I’m sure. Quite a few dead bugs were littering the floor too that could have been vacuumed up before my stay.

Amazingly Peaceful, Beautiful Escape

Amazing, quiet, really off the grid, I was staying with my gf, we celebrated 1 year together and the place was perfect, she as soon as we got home said can we go back, everyday since in fact!

There were a lot of flys and a few roaches but your basically outside so what can you expect aye.

This is a very unfortunate review to write as the location is stunning and beautiful, my partner and I had travelled from overseas and were looking forward to this stay. We had to travel quite far to get here but once we arrived, we were breath taken and it was all worth it we were also left a handwritten note and a bottle of bubbly which was super nice!

Unfortunately, our stay ended before it had begun and had to vacate the property due an insect infestation, we could not stay inside the property at all, it was extremely upsetting as we had travelled so far and it was getting dark and we were very tired, there is also no reception ( we aware of this prior) so had to drive out to get some so we could contact the host to let them know what was happening. Once we spoke with the host, she was very apologetic and offered the refund straight away. EDIT: As I am unable to respond to the property's reply, I am adding it here. As you can see above, I was honest that the refund was provided and have tried to keep the review as positive as I could. The bed was not used but checked as the headboard and underneath the bed was covered in bugs you can see this in the photos, the bed was also made up again after we had checked the mattress. To say we used the bathtub, how I wish we could've. We were at the property for less than 40 minutes and I will upload the message sent through booking that shows the time stamp of when I initially contacted you for help in finding the place to when we had to leave, I also let you know that we left rubbish in the bin, yes this was our dinner that we could not eat. We did pour ourselves a glass of wine that we bought ourselves when we initially arrived, the wine glasses were cleaned. To say that I used you for a great destination for dinner and drinks, please tell me how travelling all the way from Australia, paying 2 months in advance, having to deal with the insect infestation, having to find another place last minute and pay even more money on top of what I had already spent, yet YOU feel used... I requested for a refund, not demanded you can see this in my message to you. It is unfortunate that this is how you have chosen to respond to a review by spinning the narrative.

Exceptional

This property exceeded my expectations. It is beyond beautiful and the hosts thought of everything. There is no signal or wifi but they provide board games, cards, books for entertainment. They also provide very clear instructions on how to get there and how to get to the beach which is super helpful. They provide extra beach towels, hats as well. We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Stunning stay in the most beautiful lodge

The property was absolutely stunning. It was our last stay on a 3 week trip in New Zealand and what a perfect ending. The host left us a bottle of fizz which was lovely. We had a brilliant stay and the location was so quiet and beautiful.

This is a hut on a hill which could be so much more if a microwave or oven was added to the kitchen, it was given a good clean and perhaps a repaint. The views must be what was award winning!

The bedroom curtains had holes in. The lack of kitchen facilities since it is so far from anywhere. We could have asked the hosts to heat our food but that would have meant getting back into the car to drive down the hill to their house because the food would have been cold by the time we got back if we walked!

Great Views & Sunset ... but Issues

Views, sunset and isolation - far from the madding crowd - were wonderful. Directions to property were spot on.

Didn't see the hosts at all. Arrived to a lovely note welcoming us with two wine glasses advising a complentary bottle in the fridge ... turned out to be a bottle of water! BBQ was rancid - took the cover off to use to find cockroaches climbing over it. Whole place, whilst undoubtedly once award winning, but now needs a freshen up - curtains hanging off rail, bathroom sink pulling away from wall, fire extinguisher not serviced, lampshades covered in dust. Beach immediately below was used by local 4x4 club as a playground whilst we we're there.
