Great location, great staff, great place to spend with whanau

Receptionist and Manager is so lovely happy personalities all staff are great so helpful when we needed any the maintenance man is really amazing keeps the grounds tidy 💯 my family loved our holiday. We come every 2 years for Christmas it’s awesome thank you all again whanau. Nga mihi nui ki a koutau katoa

Great spot

Tidy and easy to access. We arrived after hours and we had clear instructions to get into our room which was great. Takeaways on site which was good and very yummy. Tidy apartment and good parking. Beds are comfortable.

Peaceful

It’s very peaceful and serene, within walking distance to Sunset Beach, which was lovely. Parking was readily available, and I was able to organise a late check in which was handy coming from Auckland.

The bed was a bit bouncy, and a small container of milk for a cuppa would have been fantastic, but not big deals.

Classic kiwiana, amazing spot

Fantastic drive to this little gem of a campsite. We booked a 2 bed motel unit, that had everything we needed, campsite was quiet and about a 10 minute walk to the river and black sand dunes which were spectacular. Campsite had easy late check in with clear instructions for us. There is a takeaway truck that parks next door and ts hours are on facebook.

Nothing , , , but i didnt use any of the campsite facilities, as we were in the hotel unit. It was wet and the road a bit bumpy, snd this is a well used campsite. The motel unit is fine, but not outstanding ( no view, ore fab build etc). But for the price it was a great option, and there is not much other accommodation in port waikato.

Regret

This is the message I sent and no reply…. Thank you for your follow-up email and for acknowledging the power outages we experienced during our recent stay. While we appreciate your gesture and the plans to upgrade the park, I wanted to share some honest feedback about our experience. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations in several ways, and we left quite disappointed. In fact, we seriously considered not staying the second night. A few points we feel important to raise: We were unaware that the accommodation was a double-wide type unit rather than a purpose-built building. While we are open-minded travellers, the overall presentation didn’t reflect what we had anticipated. The furnishings were mismatched and inadequate – there weren’t enough chairs or plates for our group, which made even simple tasks like mealtimes more difficult than they needed to be. The playground and surround was in poor condition and essentially unusable, which was particularly disappointing as we had children with us who were looking forward to enjoying the space. We also hadn’t been made aware that there would be ongoing works around the park during our stay, which impacted the atmosphere and overall experience. Sadly, nearly every aspect of the accommodation and facilities fell short of what we had hoped for. That said, I would like to acknowledge that we were warmly greeted on arrival, and I found your manner to be friendly and welcoming. It’s clear that you care about your guests and the park, and we genuinely appreciated your hospitality. Please know that this feedback is not a reflection on you personally. We don’t often write with complaints, but this holiday was particularly underwhelming. As we do not plan to return, I would appreciate if you would consider a refund for one of the two nights as a gesture of goodwill. I believe this would be a fair outcome given the circumstances. Thank you again for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Good if you need a bed for the night, not good for family holiday...

*The takeaway caravan next door made delightful food. *The young lady who checked us in was very polite and lovely to deal with. *The condiment tea and coffee was nice

*1 small kettle to share with other campers. *Mattresses had no mattress or pillow protectors, so when the sheet and pillow cases came off, there were stains all over the mattress and pillows. *No light in the games room *The bouncy trampoline pictured on the site wasn't there *There wasn't a lot to do

Cheap stay, and good location, but lights not working was annoying to deal with as it got dark at 5:15pm

Good location, and cheap. Good communal kitchen and good hot showers.

Lights didnt work, previous guests rubbish was there, beer carton full of rubbish, and the bin was nearly full. They hadn’t cleaned the beds either as there was lots of hair, dust and sand. So I don’t know why they said check in was 2pm when they didn’t even touch the room from the previous guests visit. Very disappointing as this is a government owned council holiday park. I have been to all the ones in Auckland and those are always clean and have working lights.

We liked that there was a full size fridge and a good size kitchen area. The bed was comfortable.

The unit could do with a deep clean. The kitchen floor was sticky to walk on and the sheets were not very white. The shower didn't have consistent pressure and the temperature changed.

Epic get away

The place was well maintained and cleaned by super friendly staff. Chill beach vibe and flexible with our late change to arrival time at 7pm at night.
