Private jungle “Loft del Rio” river access

Absolutely lovely stay in the middle of the jungle, waking up with the monkeys. Of course that means you need a car to go anywhere else.

Small bathroom, no wardrobe to put clothes.

Hytten “ Loft Del Rio” ligger oppe midt i et jungleområde med få, men meget venlige naboer- som er hjælpsomme. 1,5 km fra stillehavsstranden Playa Hermosa. Virkelig et skønt sted hvis man søger en helt enestående naturoplevelse. Der udspiller sig et natur- sceneri, som man ikke kender i Danmark, hver dag nye oplevelser fra verandaen i junglen: En dag svingede Spider- aber sig rundt udenfor hoveddøren, næste dag var det 2 grupper med Cappuciner -aber og deres unger, 5-6 meter væk. Hver morgen Agouti’er på morgenvandring efter føde. En eftermiddag var vi vidne til 2 Tukaner i træet op ad huset. Den store næsten selvlysende Morpho sommerfugl fløj dagligt forbi. Det samme gjorde et utal af fugle som vi ikke har navnene på. Brøleaber huserede også i junglen. Junglehytten ligger på strækningen ml. Byerne Uvita og Dominikal , der er nemt til indkøb i supermarkederne, - at komme i bil er at foretrække, men der kører også busser. Vi har været på flere små ture til botaniske haver og vandfald, 20-30 min derfra, søg på nettet, det er nemt at finde tur-muligheder. Hytten er udstyret med køleskab, fryser, gasblus og service. Der er et inden og udendørs brusebad. Skønt efter en dag ved stranden. Ps: Der var ikke myg. (Medio marts 2026)

Terrænet op til junglehytten er kuperet, men der er en fin asfalteret vej. Vi var i junglehytten i en uge og med daglige ture op og ned vænnede vi os hurtigt til vejen. Alt i Costa Rica går op og ned.

Loved our host. Very attentive and helpful. They had all the amenities at the stay - which was great. 5 mins drive to playa Hermosa. Feels amazing waking up to the birds chirping and Monkeys howling at a distance. They also offered us late check out which was very helpful.

Few things- ‘the river views’- we visited early May, which is the start of rainy season. It’s not much of a river, it was a stream. It’s not as isolated as it looks in the pictures. You can see host’s property from your bed. Since it doesn’t have curtains( understandably so cause of jungle experience) it would be nice to not look out of the window and see host’s property as this gives you 0 privacy. During our stay on the second day we wanted to enjoy a quiet afternoon at the stay- we were informed only 2 hours in advance that there would be lawn mowers at the property( which is okay, but if we had known in advance we’d plan our day accordingly and spend the time elsewhere). We had zero privacy as the mowers were at the property for about 2 hours and it was really loud ( again no curtains or windows to shut the disturbance out). The mowing work led to property being dirty and pieces of twigs and grass where all over the balcony and some inside the room. Mosquito netting is not full proof. There were many gaps and obviously we were bitten on our first night stay. We decided not to turn on lights on the second night and used red lights from our head lamp to move around the house. Which is very inconvenient. While the place is beautiful. I wish the owner was more transparent in their listing about what the property offers. Instead of overselling it and not schedule lawn workers at the property while the guests are still there. The experience was supposed to be ‘jungle’.
