Was a little far from town, but setting was lovely.

The desert views, although not as expansive as I expected. The cosy community feel. The laundry machines. it was lovely to relax in the hot tub watching the stars in the evening, although it wasn’t in top-notch condition. The kitchen was well equipped and had some basic supplies. The landscaping in this golf resort community was attractive and although it’s out of town, we did not not feel alone in the desert. My husband really enjoyed his round of golf at his highly rated course. There were guidebooks and useful resources, games, etc. and it didn’t have a cold vacation rental feel. This is a plus or a minus - It is very close to a helicopter pad. If you enjoy watching it come and go that would be a plus. If you didn’t want to be kept awake by 10:30 p.m. arrival, it would be a minus. At first I rated at seven, then on reflection I thought that despite the minor issues, we enjoyed our time there. The layout had been difficult for me to understand in advance so I will explain it. You walk into the living room dining room with no particular entrance area. The kitchen is in the far corner and somewhat open to those social rooms. The stairs beside the dining room lead up to a loft style bedroom with bath. It is open to the social areas. It is above the other bedroom and thus you hear people moving around upstairs. The main floor bedroom’s bathroom is down a short hallway in which the washer dryer are stacked. This would also serve as the bathroom for people on the main floor. It is divided into two areas: a long counter space with two sinks and door, a toilet and large oval bathtub with showerhead. The toilet is in a fairly tight space. It feels a bit precarious to step into the large bath for a shower and the first time I did so, it was slippery, probably from improperly, rinsed cleaning products. That bathroom fan is extremely loud and probably ineffective. The views may be had from the living room and patio, and to some extent the bedrooms.
The barbeque was unuseable due to vermin traces. The outdoor table was wobbly and difficult to eat on. There were about 16 stairs between the parking and the windy path to the casita, making it difficult for us with lots of luggage. It may have been possible to roll in from the other direction, but it would’ve been longer. The dishwasher did not really get dishes clean, and I found dirty pots and dishes in the cupboard and that I had to put of our used items through twice. I emailed the host as per instructions given and had no response whatsoever. We never figured out the lighting. It did not seem possible to flick a switch in bedrooms or living room and have a lamp come on there were some lamps I never successfully turned on even at source. Overhead lighting only in kitchen, dining and bathrooms. The other rooms relied on lamps. Main Bathroom fan needs attention.

It was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The laundry machines worked well.
A better description of the condo would have been helpful. Overall it is nice and clean. It is in a development that was completely and eerily empty when we were there and reminded me of my parents' retirement village. The grounds have a golf course with a bar and restaurant, but it is only open on weekends. Location is okay; it is a a few miles from Borrego Springs but close to La Casa del Zorro. The unit is dated and there was a nearly-dead poinsettia plant on the shelf along with old binders featuring old 2012 menus (we envied those old prices -- a third of today's!). The hot tub had things stacked on it so we didn't use it because it was too much trouble to see if it was hot. Though well equipped, there is too much clutter in the kitchen -- lots of old utensils and in the fridge there was lots of old used bottles of sauces, salad dressings, etc. and even some medicine (in the door, so it was clean and tidy, but never anything I would use). The laundry closet was jammed full of stuff but I was able to find some Tide Pods. It is a nice place but could use a little updating and clearing out.
