Decent value and location, but light and noise disturbances (from the bathroom or other guests)

It’s a shared apartment with a shared bathroom. There are six rooms in total, if I’m not mistaken, and during my stay only one other room was occupied. The facilities are simple but overall good value for money. The location also worked well for me, as I was comfortable walking about 20 minutes to the train station or 5–10 minutes to the city centre.

There were, however, a few downsides. I stayed in the room next to the bathroom, and the glass panel above the wall lets in light whenever someone uses the bathroom. More importantly, you can hear everything from inside the bathroom, which can be quite disruptive. This issue applies only to the room directly next to the bathroom. Another potential downside is noise from other guests. If you encounter people partying late at night—and not particularly considerate of sharing a common space—such as playing loud music at 4 a.m. and leaving their door open as an invitation, it can be quite a nuisance. The doors offer very little sound insulation, so noise travels easily.

Central and affordable location in Malaga

Note: if you put the address in Google, Malaka Room comes up - this is also reflected on the entry sign. Convenient check-in procedure - all online then sent the details for door codes to access building and room. Central location with easy walk to the Cathedral, Alcazaba, museums, and train station. Sheets and towel folded neatly on the bed upon arrival. Large closet with shelves and hangers. 6 rooms shared 2 bathrooms which were always clean and well-stocked. Never saw another guest, although could hear snoring through the walls.

Above a bar/restaurant - one night could hear karaoke and smell cigarette smoke.

Central location, walking distance to many coffee places and restaurants.

Dirty bedsheets, towel in my room was not completely dry. I hope that’s because it didn’t try properly after being washed and not because it wasn’t washed at all. Extremely noisy street with clubs nearby. Very bad sound isolation. Drunk people passing by and yelling until 6 in the morning and that was on a Wednesday.

Disappointing accomodation in good location.

Location of the property was excellent. In Malaga Centro and not far from anything.

'Airconditioning' in a room is not a loud portable air-conditioner that barely helps the heat abate - description of accommodation is misleading. The 'terrace' was just a banister across a double window that could not be opened due to the portable air-conditioner pipe emptying hot air directly below. The room, whilst clean, was far from what was shown in the photographs - bed paint was faded, no additional 'chair` in the room, wardrobe door only covered either the hanging side or the shelves, not both. Mattress on bed had seen better days and was lumpy / soft.

Perfect location and friendly staff

location is perfect, you can walk to Malaga City Centre and visit shops and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and keep the place clean everyday. You can use the kitchen and kettle or microwave, which is a plus. The room has aircon and big windows.

Personally, my room didnt have a lamp, so I had to wake up to turn the lights off, that is something that can be fix easily and it is not important, but would make the room perfect :)

Central location, modern facility with private bathroom

The location is superb! Just a couple of minutes from the Cathedral and many plazas nearby. The room was clean, there was a shower and a bathtub. Way too much storage :) We only stayed for a night and didn’t need to use it but there is a common kitchen area where you can store food and cook. The room was very clean.

If you have a light sleep it’s noisy out there but it’s the price of staying in the centre! The check in instructions could have been sent a bit earlier.

It's okay for a night or two

The location is within the centre and a short walk to all the sites. The room was tastefully decorated and an okay size. Everything was kept relatively clean. There's a shared kitchen area I didn't make use of.

The walls in this place are paper thin. You will hear everyone in the adjoining rooms. There isn't enough bathrooms for the number of rooms. I had someone pounding on the bathroom door after being in there only five minutes. The pillows were awful and there's no place to put your luggage or anything of your things. Not even a hook on the wall. The owner won't allow you to leave your luggage after check out in the common area. Plan on another 8-12€ for luggage storage nearby. The price is high for what you get.

good accommodation for 1-2 nights

The accommodation was clean. Quite sufficient for 1-2 nights. The hostel was very centrally located. You could easily reach everything on foot and the beach was not far.

The dormitory was directly above a restaurant and right next to the street. It was very loud in the night, so we had to sleep with earplugs.

Location

I booked 8 days but left this place on the 3 day. It didn’t feel clean, mattress were old and everyone were complaining of back aches in the morning. Toilet tolls run out during the night and not replaced until morning. There’s no common room. On my first day I asked to be moved to the bottom bed, they said no problem but I had to wait 2 days: when the beds freed they just put new people, this was not nice. There’s only two bathrooms for the whole hostel, all toilet showers were 160cm tall (very short).

Good

The hostel is situated in the centre of Malaga. A towel and a locker were provided and this was highly appreciated. As well as having shower gel in the shower is extra for a hostel in this price category. Everything is clean there. You get the maximum for your money. If you are looking for a place to stay overnight, this place is perfect.

As other reviews mentioned only two toilets are insufficient for so many people. It would be great to have a fountain or a vending machine for water because when toilets are occupied as there is no other way how to get water. Also, it is quite noisy during weekends as there are many bars next to the hostel and you can hear everything, so do not forget to take earplugs. During weekdays, it is much better. I missed the common area where you can sit and relax, I think they cannot do anything about this matter as this hostel was rebuilt from an apartment and there is not enough space. The only thing which they can improve immediately is that staff could learn English. It should be mandatory for hostels where that accept international travellers.

Disappointed

I am absolutely dissatisfied with the hostel because of their irresponsible and unfair attitude. The hostel's furniture, specifically the closet where personal belongings can be closed, damaged my very expensive waterproof ski jacket. As a result, it will never be waterproof again as the uncovered screw of the closet made a whole in it. The hostel immediately rejected taking the responsibility, accusing me of that I caused that a little object that theoretically covered the screw fell down, stating that I put my suitcase into the closet. I did not even have a suitcase!!! I had a relatively small backpack about 25-30 litres that did not touch the wall of the closet where the screw was. As well as, no fallen object could be seen anywhere (at least I couldn't see it during the 3 days I spent there). As soon as I let the hostel know how much the jacket cost, they immediately rejected my request to pay for the damage they caused - without investigating the issue!!! Unfortunately, I had the same experience with Booking. I contacted them several times, but they did not investigate the issue. They just forwarded me the hostel's false statement, pushing the responsibility to the client, that is, to me. The hostel stopped answering my questions when I wanted to investigate the issue further. Booking wanted me to contact the hostel in message or by phone while I live in a foreign country and I would need to pay lots of money to call abroad, in spite of that I had written them previously that the hostel did not answer my questions further and rejected taking responsibility. I had an extremely negative experience both with Booking's customer service and with the hostel's attitude as well. I would give a rating of 0 to both of them when it comes to evaluating customers' rights and the safety of their belongings.

Irresponsible

The hostel would not have been bad, but!!! A sharp screw in the closet that served to close our things damaged my 150 euro ski jacket that I have recently bought. The hostel stated that everything was alright when I arrived, and they pushed the responsibility onto me, accusing me of that I caused that the sharp screw became uncovered. This is obviously not true because nothing covered the sharp screw before, and I could see no fallen object there. The hostel did not take the responsibility and did not want to give me any compensation. I turned to the customer service of Booking who made me wait for the answer until I reached out to them again after 5 days. They gave me no explanation, they did not investigate the issue, and they did not take into account the photos that I provided as evidence. All in all, I lost a very expensive winter coat that otherwise could last even 10-15 years, because of the irresponsibility of the hostel. The jacket will never be waterproof again. Booking's only solution was that I could write a review. As if it could give me back the money that I spent on the jacket.... I am dissatisfied with the hostel because they did not take care of their furniture so it did not cause harm to any object or person.. I wouldn't recommend the hostel at all for this reason.

I loved it & I will stay again.

I was supposed to stay at a different place but, after I became lost they cancelled my booking. So, I found Malaka rooms at short notice & wasn’t sure what to expect. I was just nervous after my earlier experience. Someone came out to meet me so that I didn’t get lost. He was very polite, friendly & professional. The building is lovely with stunning high ceilings & beautiful windows. It was all very well maintained & clean. The bed was comfy, the towels were nice & the bathrooms were nice to use. I had a fabulous, peaceful nights sleep. I was only in Malaga for one day before travelling to Nerja but, it was such a pleasant experience, I will absolutely book this place again for a few days in future. Thanks for having me :)

A very good hostel in an incredible city.

This is a very good hostel in a convenient location near the best parts of Malaga. The beds were really comfortable to sleep on and the bathrooms were really big and had locks which were also great. If you are planning on visiting Malaga (which you totally should) on a budget, I would certainly recommend this hostel.

There were only a couple of minor issues that I had with this hostel with one being that the door which gets you into the hostel was difficult to open at first and that it can be difficult to find when you first get there.
