Perfect Getaway in Historic NewtonHighland (CDC Safe)

Excellent location. Very clean.

Wonderful basement apartment which was also a perfect location for college move-in into Boston! Able to sightsee easily and looked like public transportation was easily accessible on foot (we ended up driving mostly). The town had shops for the essentials for school - it was great! The only notes I had were that the description and some check-in/check out information didn’t exactly match the property. It talked about having access to the whole house and living room with a pullout couch plus a dishwasher. None of that was there and seemed to be from another listing. I appreciated the Keurig with K cups provided. They were out of coffee mate creamer so I left a few individual ones to replenish their supply. Excellent communication. Parking was great! And the greeter cats (outside) were pretty funny. Thanks for a great stay!

The only issue we had was locating the correct door. If it was listed in the description I must have missed it. The door looks kind of like a cellar door. Just highlighting that it’s a white door would be very helpful.

This review will have good and bad aspects of the apartment. First, the good features. The apartment was very clean, especially the bathroom. The bed was a queen size bed and quite comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, water pressure and temperature of the shower were good. The kitchen was small but well equipped with an induction one burner cooktop, microwave, toaster, blender, rice cooker, and appropriate utensils. The second bedroom with a single bed had a door to separate it from the main bedroom and living area. The neighborhood was very pleasant and quiet. There is adequate space for a car. It is an approximately 15 minute walk to the local metro station with some mild hills and uneven pavement. There are two busy roads to cross in addition. As listed, this is a basement apartment so it can be somewhat dark. It is approximately a mile to a laundromat and there are very few stores close within walking distance. Now for some not so attractive features of this apartment. There was a small lip to step over from the entryway into the apartment. In addition, there are small single steps from the bedroom living area to the kitchen and another to the bathroom. The most bothersome issue are two dehumidifiers which are running constantly and making a fair bit of noise. You will need a very good set of ear plugs in order to sleep at night or truly be able to sleep through anything. There is an instruction sheet not to turn off one of the dehumidifiers.
