Fantastic accommodation & accommodating host

Fantastic accommodation for our long weekend stay in November with our 3 month old daughter. Emma was brilliant to deal with and extremely accommodating with a last minute change to our plans. The cottage is nicely finished with lots of charm and the location in Beddgelert is fantastic to use as a base for checking out all that Snowdonia and the surrounding area has to offer. We'll definitely be back to stay here again in the future.

Cosy Cottage

Small and cosy. Attention to detail in the decorations and plenty of firewood, coffee, loo roll and such provided. Welcome gifts were appreciated. Check-out to-do-list was minimal, unlike some other properties these days. Very accommodating host when a request was made late notice. Thanks.

There wasn't anything we did not like about the stay. Some quirks we noticed: • Aga bottom oven did not heat up sufficiently to bake potatoes. We may have used the incorrect oven, but they ended up in the microwave. The top plate worked well for saucepan. • Toilet might need some new guts. It did not flush properly if used in quick succession. It appeared that the cistern was slow to refill. Not really a problem, and it saves water. The shower water pressure was weak. • Banged my head a few times on the stone overhead at the top of the steps leading from kitchen to bathroom, a cushion or foam strip might help here. In all, we had a lovely stay here, credit to the hosts attention to detail and exceptional comms. Will book again. Thank you.

A nice few days away

The village is beautiful and the cottage location is perfect! We really enjoyed the cosy fire in the evenings.

Although the host made some nice touches (bread, cake, fresh milk), we found the communication a little frustrating. I had a few emails and messages which weren't responded to, and we ended up calling directly. When we arrived, we were missing some basic amenities such as toilet roll and a washing up sponge. We reached out to the host, who was apologetic and arranged for them to be dropped off in the morning. They never got dropped off in the morning as we left the cottage at midday, it wasn't until after half 12 the host messaged explaining she didn't have her spare keys and ended up leaving the items in a bin bag by the door as we were out for the day. Ultimately, it's not what we'd expect for £175 a night - we'd just have appreciated better communication and not being left without toilet roll and no way to wash up the dishes in a small kitchen!

The perfect place to stay on our Mount Snowdon adventure.

The cottage was cozy and welcoming. It was very clean and tidy with tea, coffee, milk and some bara brith! Everything worked fine. The little patio was adorable and the kids loved their room.

The pictures do not reveal the lack of functionality.

The location in Beddgelert was exceptional, an easy three minute walk to the center of town, where all the restaurants and shops are. The pictures of the cottage are lovely. The decor is appealing. However, as I will comment subsequently, for me functionality trumps decor. I appreciate decor, but decor without functionality is not worth it.

We stayed in the Stone Cottage four days. What I found most frustrating was that it did not feel as if someone had lived there, and tried to unpack a suitcase or eat in the kitchen. For example, while I understand that there is not a closet in an old cottage like this, there was not one hook where you could hang clothes. The bed or a chair were the only options. In the kitchen, there are sheaves of grass – which are lovely – on the only shelf where you could put food supplies. In the living room area, there is a wicker couch, but the angle of the back of it makes it difficult to sit comfortably.

Fantastic place in a fantastic village!

Fantastic location, central to most attractions in North Wales. Great village with everything you could required. The property was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely home comforts to make the stay even nicer.

Having to be really picky about this because it was a great property and great stay… The shower did the job but wasn’t very powerful. Very good temperature but just a bit weak. But still did the job.

Cute characteristic cottage in a beautiful location

Wonderful location. Old cottage with lots of character. Basket full of locally-sourced goodies on arrival which was a lovely touch. Host’s willingness to help with any issues / answer queries eg what to do with our rubbish etc.

No major negatives but some things that would have made things even better :) Would be really helpful to have some more basic appliances in the kitchen eg toaster, microwave. There’s a low ceiling on the way to the bathroom which my husband fully cracked his head against on Day 1. Would be useful to have a warning / notice in place. A handy guide to local shops and opening times etc would also be super appreciated.

Lovely traditional cottage within easy walk of village amenities.

Beddgelert village is a really super location and the cottage was close to all amenities. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated with a rural charm in keeping with its history. The beds were comfortable and the heating worked well.

Please note we were really very happy with our stay and it didn’t put us off staying in an older cottage - these are constructive comments for the host 🙂. The hot water supply via the central heating did not work very well (we did not feel it was cold enough to light the log burner to subsidise the hot water) and it sounded like the ball valves was failing causing a terrible noise when using the hot water. There was a sizeable chunk of plaster missing near the bunk beds resulting in stones and fallout in our beds. We were advised about it but I feel it could have had a temporary remedy to prevent the fallout. There was quite a bit of residue pet hair in the hessian flooring. The sofa cushions constantly slip making it quite uncomfortable to hunker down on a cold evening. The oven gloves need replacing as there are holes in strategic places when taking trays, etc., out of the aga. The radiator in the bathroom may have an airlock as it doesn’t really warm this very chilly room. It would be very helpful to have a reminder of the low doorway as you exit the bathroom - it’s easy to hit your head.

Was a lovely stay overall and would visit again, and points above didn't put a negative on the trip

Location was excellent. Cottage was clean and comfortable. Was able to park outside of the property, or close by. Really like the extra touches of free bread, butter and a beer. Lovely garden space and comfortable bed, however I am not sure if two mattresses were necessary.

Cottage has damp and in parts needs decoration and attention. No manual or welcome pack, on how to use shower, things to do in the area, opening times of local shops etc. Toaster would have been useful and this could have been easily stored in the cupboard. Oven trays were dirty and greasy and there wasn't a scrubbing brush to clean them or foil to lay on top.

Lovely cottage in a rural village, perfect for a hill walking holiday.

Christmas decorations up making the place feel very homely. Was a nice surprise finding the small welcome gifts that the owner left for us (bread, milk, butter, cakes and a few drinks).

Smell of Kerosene downstairs coming from the bathroom but I assume the oil heater was working overdrive during this extreme cold snap!

Great stay!

What a lovely little cottage. The attention to detail is amazing and makes the place so cosy and pleasant for the eye. Loved all the little extra touches from the owner, i.e. fresh Welsh bread and cakes and Prosecco in the fridge! The view from the garden is amazing as we enjoyed our morning coffee on a clear day. Communication with the owner was also spot on, any questions would be answered straight away via phone. Would 100% recommend and come back again. Thanks a lot, Emma!

Fantastic short stay in my new favourite home from home!

The property is beautiful and so cozy! It perfect for our family. The host left us a lovely welcome pack of bread, Welsh cakes, butter, milk, prosecco and Welsh beer. The kitchen was compact but had everything we needed. Beds were comfy and a lovely little patio area overlooking the cottage with a view of the mountains. stunning!
