About this house rental

Riverview Cottage is a comfortable holiday cottage and a real home from home.
Situated in the village of Breasclete it is centrally situated on the island making it an ideal holiday base. It is a twenty five minute drive from the town of Stornoway which is the hub of the island and boasts its own collection of small shops.
You are a five minute drive from the famous Callanish Standing Stones and Visitor Centre and a fifteen minute drive from the nearest beach. Lewis has some beautiful beaches and other interesting tourist attractions. There is plenty to see and do. Once you have explored Lewis you can easily manage a day trip to Harris from the cottage.

Riverview Cottage is a well maintained, cozy, and well-equipped cottage. We spent a week here and couldn’t have been more pleased with the accommodations. The kitchen was very well-equipped. The separate washer and dryer made it easy to catch up with the laundry after a bit of traveling. Located 5 minutes from the Calanais Standing Stones, the cottage is conveniently located to other attractions on the west coast of Harris. While we would recommend doing any major provisioning in Stornoway, the Carloway Community store is only about an 8 minute drive away should you run out of milk or bread. Stornoway itself is an easy 30 minute drive away. We would definitely consider staying at this property again if we returned to Lewis & Harris.

The location meant that access to Lewis and Harris were easy and what a great view. It’s clear a lot of thought and care has been given by the owners to ensure a great stay. This Riverview Cottage was the perfect home away from home for my best friend and I as we explored The Isle of Lewis and Harris. It was centrally located so it was perfect for going North, South and then back to Stornoway to explore and catch the ferry back to Ullapool. Ann and Angus were laid back and helpful. Angus checked in on us the first morning and shared information about the area and property. What we wish we would have known: You need to have a car to get around from this location so do not depend on taxis or tours--Arnold Clark was wonderful and helpful. When you drive from Stornoway to Callanish do NOT take the Pendleton road that your rental GPS tells you to take. Turn around! Gordon is wonderful at the Callanish Visitor Center. Callanish II and III were not accessible without muck boots when we were there. Buy groceries at Aldi's or Tesco in Inverness BEFORE you get to the island so you have food at the cottage. If you drink coffee; bring it OR go to the Callanish Visitor Center for a cup of coffee. Stay here! The kitchen, bathroom, and muck room are all updated and new, the sitting room perfect for hanging out and the sheep adorable!

River View house is incredibly well-equipped and furnished, and very spacious, bright and cosy (recently renovated, by the look of it). Everything was spotless, and the beds were comfy. Plenty hot water and heating too. Great views of the loch in the distance. We had to phone the owners on a couple of occasions: they were super responsive and came down to the house swiftly. A lovely, kind couple, whom we were happy to meet. Thank you for this extremely pleasant stay! Highly recommend this house.

Ann was great host, checking in to ensure all was in order and offer assistance if needed. The cottage was clean and beautifully appointed. Would definitely stay again. Great location to some of the best sites to visit. Only issue was google maps (which Ann informed me about) not recognising the address correctly, but then I just used Breasclete Community Centre and was accurate every time.

This cottage is centrally located to visit Lewis. The host was available at all times and there was an informative book at the property. It is fully stocked and has all the amenities you could want. We stayed a week and ate most meals there. If I was to return I would stay there again.

‘Riverview’ is a wonderful bungalow, and had everything we needed for our stay in Lewis. The location was ideal for our needs - close enough to visit friends on the west side of the island, and yet still well-placed to drive to Harris. The house was clean and beautifully presented. We were fortunate with the weather, and were able to sit outside and enjoy some great views. A wonderful house to relax in and enjoy some much needed down-time! Hope to be back soon!

We loved every moment of our stay at Riverview cottage. It was so clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Location wise it could not have been better and we visited some amazing places. We were blest with superb weather and spent time on some stunning beaches. We saw four golden eagles during the week - sighted two of them from the back garden! We will miss the lovely views from the cottage. The owner,Ann, called round to see us and was very friendly and helpful.

Checking in was so easy. Owner called just after we arrived to check everything was as it should be and to let us know she was available by landline or mobile. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could need. A true home from home. The location is also perfect to tour/explore the island an excellent midway base with views to the water and the Callanish Stone Circle, which is walking distance away. Cannot praise this cottage highly enough it was a pleasure to stay in.

We were able to experience the beauty of Lewis from this comfortable home. Situated near the Calanais Standing Stones, we were close enough to venture north to the Butt of Lewis and into the "big city" of Stornaway easily. Excellent location on the west coast of the island. House sits in an elevated location giving a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
