About this villa rental
Quinta de Macedos, located within the UNESCO Port Region, is a family-run vineyard offering luxurious accommodation in a rustic farm setting . The Quinta's secluded position allows guests to experience the wild beauty of Northern Portugal. The space:
All bedrooms are ensuite with bay windows that look out onto the property. 2 kings and 3 twin/doubles. We provide luxurious linen/towels and all bedrooms come equipped with air conditioning. Should your stay be during winter months we have underfloor heating throughout the property in addition to multiple fireplaces (and an outdoor fire-pit).
Our upstairs living room, or the 'library' as we call it, is the perfect place to retreat on a hot day, or a winters eve. Cosy up with a book by the window or by the log burner. The downstairs lounge has a smart TV, fireplace and a backdoor that leads directly out onto the dining terrace. We do like to keep things ‘old school’ - a DVD player/DVD's are also available for use!
The dining room has a handmade table that seats 10. Our Portuguese style farm-kitchen is fully equipped and has a two-door fridge/freezer & water filter.
15m swimming pool has undisturbed views of the valley and our outdoor dining terrace is one of kind. A sunset BBQ is a must. There is outdoor lighting for all outdoor spaces during the evening.
Things to do during your stay:
Hiking
Visit the historic old-town of São João da Pesqueira (25 mins).
Pinhao (20mins) offers scenic boats ride up the Douro (you can often rent canoes in the summer), and it is home to Quinta de Bomfim of Dow's Port.
Regua (45 mins) is home to a converted railway station now filed with rustic eateries all showcasing local food and wines.
The scenic 222 drive from Regua to Pinhao was recently voted one of the best in Europe. This is also a must if you come by car.
Guest access
Guests have private use of the house and pool, as well as exclusive access to the entire property. Access to Winery/tasting areas can be requested but is subject to availability.

- Wine tasting/tour with the winemaker (Portuguese & English).
- A private chef for the entirety of your stay (English speaking) or one-off dinner service for that special occasion (local Portuguese cook).
- Our extra-virgin olive oil and our wines are always available to purchase on site.
- Wood for the fires can be provided for your stay.
- Individual rooms on a bed and breakfast basis are also available at £160/$200 per night with minimum 3 night stay.

We had an excellent and relaxing stay in the very well appointed vineyard home. The drive in and out took some getting used to with the narrow lanes amongst the vines, but you couldn’t ask for a more idyllic and quiet place to relax. The wine they produce there is great too!

Gorgeous setting! Beautiful home and wonderful hosts. The wine tour by Paul was amazing. Philippa and Paul were very communicative and accommodating ! Only one comment- this is very beautiful and very remote. Closest supermarket 40 min away and the long and winding single lane roads to the home may be very intimidating to some. Should not drive these roads after dark. But for us it was worth it.

We loved the villa and the surrounding vineyard setting! It was a difficult drive up without signage around the villa and would recommend arriving during daylight. But the drive was worth it!!

The house is very well decorated and kitchen is well equipped with all the spices and utensils for cooking. The view of the surrounding wineries is extraordinary. We love our stay and can’t wait to come back for another trip. Thanks Phillipa and Susanna for a warm welcome and hospitality.
