About this house rental

Escape to the allure of Le Tuffeau, named after the local stone abundant in the Loire region. Enveloped within Les Coindries Cottage and Gites, this gite boasts original beams and timbers, creating a cozy retreat. The fully equipped kitchen/living area offers modern comforts, complemented by two bedrooms, featuring a double and twin beds, ensuring a restful stay. The ground floor bathroom adds convenience with a walk-in shower.

Built in the early 1800s, Le Tuffeau invites relaxation on its small sunny terrace with a BBQ. Les Coindries, is a traditional French farmstead which has an individual two-bedroom cottage and three 1-2 bedroom gites, forming a tranquil haven around a picturesque courtyard. Surrounded by a private walled garden and scenic countryside, it beckons you to explore lovely walks and cycle tracks nearby.
Carefully restored with original oak beams the gite provides a private outside seating/eating area. After a day of uncrowded exploration in the beautiful surroundings, unwind with a refreshing glass of wine. Escape to Les Coindries for an authentic French experience, where tranquility and relaxation are woven into the charm of this inviting retreat.
Les Coindries can be found 7km south of Richelieu - famous for its Cardinal of the same name the most powerful man in France during the reign of Louis XIII. The Cardinal spent his early life at the beautiful (though now partly ruined) Chateaux de Coussay and later building a magnificent palace and town of Richelieu, filled with Renaissance statuary. The great palace was later demolished, but the huge park remains including the moat and island on which the Cardinal first built the palace. The park is a wonderful place of a walk or bike ride at anytime of year. This little known citadel is an architectural jewel of France and can be reached in 10 minutes from Les Coindries.

Having rented accommodation in France in the past, we were expecting the gite to be very basic but we were pleasantly surprised at the size of this one. It was also clean, airy and very well equipped and having use of a pool was a definite bonus. We were greeted by Colin the collie (who we all fell in love with), promptly followed by Clair and Robert. Our hosts were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the area and were able to make recommendations re. places to visit. We were, however, quite happy to chill on this holiday and only ventured forth to visit the lake on one day (which is worth a visit, especially with youngsters/teens/young adults). One great recommendation was lunch at Le Ricordeau in Loudun. We had a stunning 4 course lunch for 18 euro and had one of the best meals we have had in a long time (including Michelin star restaurants!). We would definitely recommend a visit to Le Coindries and, if you have time, Le Ricordeau for a special meal. We certainly hope to return to both in the not too distant future.

    A lovely gite
    A lovely gite
The gite was lovely - clean and comfortable. The pool and courtyard garden were really picturesque. The owners were really great - friendly and helpful. The gite is within driving distance of many interesting towns/ chateaux and therefore made a great base to explore the area. We were made to feel very welcome. We did have problems with the patchy wifi - a result of being in a very rural area.

We wanted a peaceful break away and that's exactly what we got. The gite was decorated nicely and was well equipped with everything we needed. We were lucky with the weather so made full use of the lovely pool and comfy sun loungers. Claire & Rob made us feel very welcome and we look forward to returning.
