Perfect for families

Truth be told - we were on a short visit to Villach area, so this was the cheapest breakfast stay I could find. Had no expectations. What we found was a welcoming place with a lot of old and good quality furnishing that has the grandmothers' house feel to it, friendly host, a solid breakfast, and above all - a fireplace in the lobby where I spent some perfect quiet moments reading and drinking good Austrian beer. Honestly, if we are to visit this part of Austria again, Bergbude is the place to stay! Also, the Faak Lake is nearby. It's a summery place, but still a nice stroll in the winter.

Beds are worn out. Had to sleep upside down, otherwise I'd surely wake up with some solid pains in the back.

For this price, really OK. The strong points of this place : rich breakfast & kind owner

Easy reachable, right by the main road, with a big readable sign, difficult if not impossible to miss, even at night, which was good. Owner left us the check in as a self-service at the reception (from to fill in at the reception with our name on it). Zero fuss on check in , even at night, which was awesome. Best price in the area, for the days we were looking at least. Owner really super nice and friendly. Made our stay comfortable and cozy. Pet friendly. However I think that the best thing about this place is the breakfast. Very rich and satisfying. Especially the fresh eggs. Also super nice and friendly dog at the main hall.

Overall the hotel had no cons however it's impossible not to mention the lack of a lift which in case you're traveling with heavy luggage especially at night after a long drive, like in our case, makes things kind of unpleasant. However at the same exact time we need to acknowledge the fact that the structure is old even though the owner did make some really valid efforts to modernize and restore/restructure it, and those are visible, so kudos to him. Secondary issue were the pillows which were totally out of shape, similar to a bag half-full and half-empty with water, and little bit difficult to sleep on.

A perfect place to stop for a night or hitchhike in the nearby mountaines and hills. Beautiful countryside surrounding. A very nice host, speaking fluent English, offering warm egg dishes for breakfast, which is served in the dining room.

The hotel was in a really beautiful location. The hotel had a big parking space and it was pet friendly. Breakfast was nice. The owner was really friendly.

Really friendly people, you feel alone even if all the hotel is fully booked.

A bit old (furniture, doors, bathroom) At the breakfast they did not refill things and after us came at least 9 people and there was just 1 salami slice , on one of the tables i saw omelette and boiled eggs shells, but there was non on the buffet. And to be clear we had breakfast at 8 o’clock ( breakfast time is 7-9:30o’clock)

We had a wonderful stay at Bergbude. The place was easy to find, the room was big and comfortable, the host was friendly, breakfast was delicious. We would be happy to stay there again!

Great breakfast, room not worth the price

Breakfast was great and room was clean.

Shower was clogged, lavatory runs cold water only. There is no vent in the bathroom and only one tiny window which cannot be opened. Out of "mountain view" we got view on someone's garage and backyard. Breakfast made it somewhat worth the money, but the room definitely isn't.

Great accomodation!

The check in/check out was very uncomplicated. Breakfast was very good with the opportunity to sit outside on a beautiful terrace. The owner was very friendly and also spoke English. The location is perfect, very close to the lake. The room was spacious and clean. The mattress a bit old, but we slept very well despite that! All in all we would definitelly come back again!

Wonderful stay-over on our road trip

Quiet room, friendly host. A little older but charming building, clean. Close to main roads, free parking at the building. Good breakfast, a choice of sandwiches, cheese, cucumber and tomato, cereals and yoghurt, coffee and tea.

Great stay at nice location

We stayed at Bergbude in a family room for skiing holiday, It has absolutely matched our expectation with clean and quiet room, helpful host, great breakfast and proximity to the Gerlitzen ski resort.

Disappointing

The host, his son and the dog were friendly. I'm sure the accomodation is much more fascinating and pleasant in the warm seasons.

Wonder why the rating is so high. The room was too small and outdated, very little light as if you are in the basement. The bathroom was too small too and a problem with hot water - it runs after about 5 minutes. The hair dryer is available only at the reception. There's one socket in the room. The room is not suitable for hanging clothes. No soundproofing at all - you can hear every step and voice of the next room's guests. Can't say anything good about breakfast. It was poor and in quantity and variety.

The stay was great, we enjoyed a lot and felt as at home, peaceful and relaxed.

Our stay was amazing, the hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable, we felt as at home. The view to forrest was beuatiful and the visti overall really exceeded our expectation. The hotel owner was amazingly nice, helpful and relaxed, and the breakfast was delicious. Thank you! The location is calm, near Villach and Faaker See, and its good to come with car (even though I dont know about how public transport works).
