The Cave - Adults Only

Cha Ren, the owner, was super helpful and really made us feel at home. The location was nice out of the hustle of town but close enough to everything needed and the apartment felt safe and cozy- had everything we needed.

Bed was too hard for my liking and the shower wasn’t that hot - still did the job!

Central location in Tanah rata, lost of hiking trails walking distance and restaurants available. Being in an appartement of 3 rooms allows you to chill if rainy day and to meet other people. This is not charming, it is very convenient

Very noisy, you could hear everything happening in the building. Breakfast was 12rm for an hard boiled egg, a yogurt and toasts which in my opinion is very expensive. I ended up going the an Indian place downstairs : 6 rm for milk tea and two stuffed rotis

Perfect to stay a few nights and kind personnal.

Friendly hosts, and accommodation is clean and well equipped. The set up is creative, The Cave itself serves as reception/self check in and the location of the dorms. The private rooms are located in one of two separate apartment buildings a few hundred meters from The Cave and are domestic apartments that have been divided into separate rooms. You have access to a shared living space, kitchenette, balcony and bathroom. Breakfast is available at a small additional fee, which consisted of toast with jam and peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, fruit and coffee or tea. The location of the property is slightly out of the centre in a complex of around 8 apartment blocks. These buildings do have restaurants and shops but you can easily walk into the main town taking perhaps 10 minutes (downhill) and 15 on the return (uphill). The bus station is also only 10 minutes walking distance.

No reason at all to not stay at the property but be aware: There are a lot of instructions to convey the above set up, these are clear with short videos and diagrams but a lot of information nonetheless and a number of steps to take before accessing your room. We are not sure if security is a big issue in Tanah Rata but all the doors in the apartment building have steel security doors before the front door which is secured with a padlock.It also appeared to be common practice at both The Cave and the apartment we stayed in to padlock the security closed when you were inside, this worried us slightly from the perspective of fire safety.
