Lena’s hospitality is a force of nature. She green-lit an early check-in, helped with a 1am check-out for a ghastly red-eye, and greeted us with her own olive oil, home-made jam, and a squad of baby toys ready to entertain our baby. WhatsApp, her preferred mode of communication, was always answered promptly. The flat itself is spotless, charmingly equipped, and on a lane so quiet you can hear your own thoughts—a ten-minute bus ride from the city’s hum. The shaded terrace was a real bonus, perfect for whenever we chose to dine in.
Lena's hospitality seems to be a true vocation for her, a core component of her warm personality. Because of this, she can take requests for privacy quite personally, and our attempts to explain our preference didn't seem to fully bridge the gap. This created a bit of gentle pressure, made all the more potent because we genuinely liked her and didn't want to cause disappointment.
We had some friendly back-and-forth clarifying an amenity in the listing, but Lena ended up providing exactly what we needed, and we were very happy with the resolution. She is an incredibly generous person.
In sum, this is a place for those who value a genuine, family-like connection over the transactional distance of a hotel. If you thrive on warm personalities and don't mind navigating a little emotional terrain, you will be delighted. And yes, you can expect plenty of gifts.
Different cross cultural - well intended on both sides - expectations created tiny misunderstandings here and there.

Location was great, close to the beach and small shops for eating. There is a free parking spot if you rented a car and also the internet was very very fast. Lena was the perfect host, always concerned about our comfort and was always available by call or text to answer questions. She gave us homemade jam, chocolate spread, cookies, and olive oil from her own gardens upon arrival. Would recommend for any visitor.

We spent two fabulous weeks at Sweet Home Lena. Our host was kind, generous with her time and gave us some lovely Cretan treats. The olive oil from her olive trees was amazing and truly delicious. Lena showed us around the local area and took us to a beautiful cafe for coffee and cake. Her communication was excellent.
The Apartment itself was in a quiet location and was clean, well equipped and homely. Within a 5 minute walk there is a bakery for daily bread , cakes, coffee and an abundance of sweet treats. There is also a good delicatessen for cheeses, meats and groceries, 3 supermarkets and some very good restaurants. A bus stop ( no 11) is close by that takes you into Chania old town for €2, or it is only a 20 minute walk along the beach. Sweet Home Lena was a perfect choice for stay in Chania and we would highly recommended it to others.

I came home from a beautiful holiday in Chania, me and my friend stayed at Lena´s apartment, where we really felt like home. On the day of arrival Lena, who is a very friendly and kind person waited for us and provided us food, snacks and also local drink of Chania, which tastes very good, similar to "Raki". Lena was very welcoming and she provided us with everything we needed for a perfect holiday, also with the recommendations what to visit, where to eat, where to order food, ...
She also had her home made olive oil in her kitchen, which I liked very much (Crete is known for olive oil and her olive oil is very good!). The appartment is spacious, it has a big balcony, which we liked a lot (great place to chill, to eat breakfastand enjoy the evenings). Lena even offered us to come and change the bed sheets and towels, which was very nice.
The apartment kitchen has everything, also the bathroom, one big plus is that a parking space is in front of the building and is covered, so it protects the car from the sun and heat.
The location of the appartment is very good, you can reach the city center and the old town on foot. To reach it even faster, we drove with our car about 4 minutes to Villa Koundouros, where a free parking is possible on the street. We were very happy with our trip to Chania, thank you Lena for everything! :)
