Nice & cozy vegan homestay
Comfortable and cozy, friendly and helpful hosts. Tasty VEGAN breakfast.
I wouldn’t say we didn’t like it, on contrary , the breakfast was very tasty and there were different home made options but I think it should be highlighted in the accommodation description that the breakfast is exclusively vegan ( means: no dairy products, no meat, no eggs)

True story, names have been changed:
Sometimes travel teaches us lessons. Sometimes it teaches us to read the fine print. I, of course, did neither. Somewhere between the autobahn and a roadside gas station coffee, I booked us into what I thought was a charming family home. Charming, yes. Dutch, certainly. But 100% vegan, child-free, and faintly cult-like. The red flags were there. A lovingly detailed vegan menu in the listing, which I skimmed past, assuming it was just an option, not a manifesto. A stern “check-in before 8pm,” which I brazenly converted into “we’ll swing by at 10.” And for good measure, I completely missed the “no children” clause. What could go wrong? The night drive to get there is its own ordeal. The road winds steeply through a forest so dark it feels endless. You become hyper-aware of your own breathing, as if civilization ended an hour ago and you’re headed toward a place that may not exist. About 10pm, while my wife and daughter waited in the car like refugees from a road trip purgatory, I casually mentioned to the host that we were not two guests, but three — and, God forbid, one of them - a child. The man’s jaw hit the floor in slow motion and the room filled with the kind of silence that explains everything. His wife smiled politely, probably to mask the urge to reach for the emergency vegan rooibos tea. But business is business, and they grudgingly let us in, presumably calculating how much oat milk it would take to recover from this betrayal. The house itself was eerily well-kept. Wooden beams, tasteful renovations, and bedrooms named after composers — Mozart, Chopin, Brahms — as though the ghosts of the Romantic era were expected to show up for breakfast. The soaps and shower gels were all plant-based, which means I smelled faintly of rosemary and self-righteousness.
We finally got our daughter to bed and, like any responsible parents, read her a story in funny voices. Only in the morning did we realize the walls were so thin the entire household probably heard every syllable. If Chopin wasn’t rolling in his grave, he was rolling in the wooden heart plaque outside our door. Breakfast was excellent, to their credit. Vegan, yes, but tasty enough to convince me that a life without bacon is theoretically possible. The host remained a little eerie, his wife unfailingly kind, and the dog quietly judging us for our carnivorous sins. Check-out at 10am was, of course, enforced with the precision of the ÖBB schedule. We scrambled out like fugitives, Chopin heart key in hand, vowing never again to underestimate the importance of reading house rules on Booking.com. Stars? 10 out of 10. Half a star deducted for the thin walls, another half for the vegan soap, and a bonus star added because I survived confessing at 10pm that we had brought… a child.

very friendly owners, nice decorated rooms and amazing home made food
Haus 26 is located near ski slopes, rooms are nice decorated and well equipped. Owners are very friendly and always prepare to help you with advices. Breakfasts and dinners are really exceptional even if you are not vegan (home made Nutella, different type of jams, ….)
