Spacious City Centre Apartment with Free Parking

Great place to stay right in the city centre

Great location and everything we needed for a 1 night stay, nice to have extra space and privacy which you don’t get with a standard hotel room. Very cheap parking across the road also.

Standard flat in a good location for the university or getting into town. Good security entrances to the building, and a fast lift up to the 4th floor. The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you'll need, including a good size fridge. No microwave though. Parking available nearby. Generally a good spot to stay if you're visiting the city.

Additional £150 security deposit required before you'll get keys. Not a problem, but would be good to know before you go. I can't see this anywhere in the booking information although the host tells me it's there. Air conditioning is really a ventilation system built into the flats. It was close to 30 degrees Celsius during my stay and it would have been good to have had a fan in the flat (edit: apparantly there are fans in the bedroom cupboard). Bedroom window does not open and so there is no ventilation or cooling in the bedroom. The shower tap for regulating water temperature did not work during my stay and so I could only get scalding hot water out of the shower (positive take is that there is plenty of hot water). At least I could use the bath. The flat could do with a deep clean (check the top of the fridge for example), and a few fixes (cupboard door missing in the kitchen) but in reality it is probably no worse than your or my home right now!

There were clear instructions where and when to collect key.

The apartment could have done with some TLC. The door for the dishwasher was missing, the blinds across the floor or ceiling windows had no pull cords so could not be opened. The cords we found later in a kitchen drawer. The shower over bath hot water control was seriously difficult to adjust - was set to an unbearably hot temperature. We eventually managed to turn it down a bit to use the shower. The seal from the shower screen was worn so water spilled out easily to the floor. The tap in the bathroom sink was missing the handle to turn on/off; it could still be used. There was a small heated towel rail but no instructions as to how to turn it on. There were no other hooks or towel rails for either bath or hand towels. The host told us 48 before the booking that there was a £150 security deposit to cover any damages. This had to be paid before the keys could be released. It had not been mentioned anywhere previously. The deposit was refundable on confirmation from the cleaner that there was no damage. A month later and several exchanges of messages and deposit has still not been returned. This is being pursued legally, I would not recommend this property.
