Lilys Apartments Old Town Rethymno

The location is great, right in the heart of the old town but still peaceful and quiet with its own courtyard. Lily is very helpful and is a great host, she is always available if you need something. We had the 1 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor with 2 twin beds and a sofa bed. This was enough space for 3 people. The kitchen is quite big and comes with everything you need for a few nights stay including some condiments. The bathroom was also stocked with shower gels and shampoo and we also had laundry detergent which was really helpful. The air con in the bedroom works well. Lily also stores your luggage when you check out which is very helpful. We also got free early check in which is fantastic. I would stay with Lily again but perhaps pick a different apartment

We travelled in June and the living room, kitchen and bathroom were just about bearable in the heat. The air con does not reach those rooms and therefore it is very hot. I could not recommend this apartment in July or August. I did message Lily about getting a fan for the rooms and she tried her best but had some issues getting them over in time for our stay- perhaps next time it’s best to have fans ready for the guests in advance. The other issue is that if you sleep with the windows open there are no mosquito nets on the windows so you get a lot of bugs and mosquitoes entering the flat. If the windows had nets this would really help with ventilation and reducing mosquitoes. The other thing to note is the bathroom is quite small but it is manageable for a few nights

We (a couple) stayed 3 nights in beautiful Rethymno. Our apartment was large, well equipped and centrally located in the old town close to the port, restaurants and the Venetian Castle. Supermarket near bus station and main swimming beach were an easy walk away for us. Our host and cleaners were friendly and helpful.

The location was excellent. As others have said it is very quiet despite being in such a central location. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning unit in the bedroom meant I could easily cool it down before going to bed. Shower was simple and effective with very hot water. Adequate kitchen facilities, but as I ate out I didn't need more. I enjoyed being able to sit out in the courtyard area which was quite sheltered during the afternoon.

It was slightly tricky to find. Taxis and shuttle transfers cannot drive into this part of the old town so you need to be prepared for a short walk. However, it is clearly marked on google maps.

Nous avons eu de grosses blattes quasiment tout les jours dans l'appartement. C'était horrible pour moi 😱 je n'ai pas réussi à fermer l'oeil la nuit, de peur d'en avoir une qui me court dessus. La propriétaire a fait mettre des pièges supplémentaires qd nous lui en avons parlé mais nous en avons trouvé un de plus à côté de nos affaires (mort cette fois-ci) le jour suivant. L'appartement est propre mais la ville en est infestée. Il y en a un nombre incalculable, écrasés dans les rues, si vous partez tôt le matin. Nous n'avons pas aimé le système à carte aussi pour l'électricité. Ce n'était pas pratique. Pour une lessive, à chaque fois que vous partez, l'électricité se coupe et le machine s'arrête...
