rural retreat with mod cons and comfort and near road networks

a very charming rural idyl with well-appointed and comprehensive facilities and space. The few items available at the entrance were useful (water/butter/baguettes/excellent honey/eggs/biscuits). The hosts were friendly, and the welcoming smile was deep and sincere. do pay attention to the advice about keeping the home insect free... and you will not have a problem. We could easily have stayed here for longer.

The only real gripe was the old only just working shower, it looked as though it was a modern multi nozzle shower cubicle, however only the normal shower head was working, that said it had good pressure and did the job.

Not much! The stairs up are steep and thin, but we knew this, so fine, but worth mentioning, can be easier backwards, going down! Whilst quiet and away from the main roads, Nature starts early 🤣

Well priced, big family apartment

Big family apartment in the second floor. Fast WIFI. Quiet. Complete kitchen. Separate rooms with separate toilets. Big bathrooms with washing machine and bath tub. Limited interaction with host but check in was smooth despite arriving late in the evening.

Stairs were quite steep. We were with small children and old parents - just need to be careful.

Beautiful, clean and comfortable house with everything you need for staying. The rooms are large and cozy. In addition, hosts own chicken and bee-garden and offer both honey and eggs which you can buy onsite. Everything is natural and tasty, so we continue enjoying it even after we leave the house. Exceptional

The Sturmhof is in a beautiful location, with well-tended gardens and mature fruit trees; the site is in a rural location but under 5 minutes by car from Grefrath (and probably walkable, though we didn't try). The apartment itself combines traditional architecture with a quirky layout and modern conveniences: there's a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessities that you don't want to have to buy for a short stay, like salt, oil and herbs/spices. The rooms are all well proportioned with no shortage of space and each has a TV. In the building there's even a little corner where you can buy drinks and local produce and there's a supermarket in the town if you need more. Grefrath is a pleasant small town, which also has restaurants and a bakery and a range of other amenities. The owners were there to meet us when we arrived around 9pm to hand over the keys and show us around and also responded quickly when we asked questions via the booking.com app. There are many thoughtful touches to the accommodation and what's been made available e.g. shopping bags provided. From a personal perspective, the location is well-positioned to break the journey from Dunkirk to Hamburg. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

It's not a complaint, but it's worth being aware that the (listed/protected) stairs up to the 1st floor apartment are very steep and could be a problem for the infirm or disabled

Fabulous massive flat renovation in old barn

Loved the building, the gardens were amazing, beds massive and comfy, shower/bathroom was incredible - Was really quiet and welcoming and not far from the main roads going to Germany/Netherlands. Would have liked to have stayed longer, though we did return on our way back, which was equally good,

Lovely quiet stay on a farm

Owner was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Allowed our 2 year old to see the horses and feed the chickens and even have a little ride on one of their ponies. We had two fresh eggs, water and chocolate waiting for us. We also were able to buy more eggs, bread, butter and honey on site which was amazing so we could make our own breakfast. We had things to cook for the evening with us which was good as everything was a drive away. Nice and isolated which is good during this corona time. Perfect stop when travelling to the UK or to Germany from the UK. Thanks so much!!

Nothing really!! You just have to be careful with young children as there are steep stairs to the flat but you just have to hold their hands/carry them at all times. And put the beautiful statues out of their reach in the flat!!

We hebben een prachtig verblijf gehad in een ruim en uitstekend onderhouden appartement met heerlijke bedden.

Mooi en heel ruim appartement met mooie keuken en heerlijke bedden.

De eigenaren waren iets te benauwd dat wij de regels niet zouden handhaven. Wij zijn volwassen genoeg om na 1 keer te begrijpen dat er geen vuurwerk op de locatie mag worden afgestoken. Ook weten wij dat er alleen maar wc papier in het toilet kan. Net zoals dat je een vaatwasser moet laten afdraaien en het koffiefilter moet schoonmaken. Maar goed, er zullen vast gasten zijn geweest die dit niet begrijpen waardoor deze extra aantekeningen nodig zijn.
