Excellent classy B&B in a lovely building

The accommodation was deluxe. We had a lovely room with comfy bed. We had a separate lounge to use with a fridge full of goodies. We could help ourselves to fruit, cakes, sweets etc. The bathroom was in a separate room but this was not a problem as we had a screen so we are price when moving from the bedroom. The bath was luxury as was the shower. Lots of soap, bubble bath etc to use. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. Bicycles were safely stored in the hallway. Thanks you. Plenty of restaurants in the town but we lovely the Taj Mahal Indian which was excellent be it the service was at snails pace. The town was very picturesque. Good place to cycle to Southend to see the coast of Northern Ireland as only 13 miles away!

Probably too many notes stuck around the place saying "do this" and "don't do that". However I understand why they are there as some clients may be numpties?

Excellent experience There was remarkable attention to detail and everything was provided that you could possibly want and more! Excellent base for travelling Kintyre Peninsula

We stayed here overnight as part of a 4 person golf trip. Attention to detail in everything was amazing. The small things such as food and drinks to go were great and kept us fueled during a grueling round of golf at Machrihanish. This is a great base for a trip a golf trip of going to Carradale, Dunaverty or Machrihanish. The breakfast was exceptional; We had a full menu to choose from for our breakfast with different options. As far as Scottish breakfasts go this was up their with the best we have had.

Fabulous B&B!

Absolutely outstanding in every possible way. A huge, comfortable, private lounge and two lovely bedrooms. Excellent bathroom and shower. Massive choice of snacks and drinks, homemade cake, delicious breakfast. So much attention to detail - local guidebooks, toiletries, fluffy towels, lots of helpful recommendations. By far the best value for money and most luxurious place we stayed on our whole trip to Scotland. Our Springbank distillery visit was great too. Lots to explore in the area. If you are lucky enough to find availability at Gowanlea Heights, don't hesitate - book now and you won't regret it.

The only thing missing is the deserved extra Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Attention to detail was exceptional. Far better than a 5 star hotel but with a personal approach. From being greeted with a warm welcome to beautiful breakfast. I have dietary requirements, which not only did they cater to extensively but small homemade GF cakes were just beautiful and food knowledge. Stunningly decorated home and gardens. There is nothing they haven't thought of. Exceptionally comfortable bed, things like having a choice of pillow types (from down to regular) made it even better. Many additional features to make your stay extra special. Will return to Campeltown specifically to stay here (and try out the roll top bath). Loved meeting their beautiful dog (normally lives is separate part of their home).

Comfortable, roomy, quiet accommodation in a central and ideal location!

John was an excellent host! Very communicative via email leading up to our stay, as well as during our stay. The accommodations were excellent, and his service was fantastic. I true Bed & Breakfast experience. Our family of three had the full ground level of the B&B to our disposal. Two large bedrooms, with a large living room/dining space, and large bathroom especially for Europe standards. John and his family live in the upper levels of the residence and were available to us most any time of the day, if it was needed. Yet, they left us alone to have our time to ourselves. We stayed 3 nights/4 days and ordered breakfast each night for the following morning. Continental and full breakfast experience was available and John served our every needs and dietary requests. We had distillery tours each day, but John gave us great suggestions to fill our schedules for the remaining time of our days. If we visit Campbeltown again, we will most definitely return to Gowanlea's Heights B&B!

Absolutely tremendous with the best hosts. There was so much on offer and absolutely spotless

We absolutely loved our stay at Gowanlea. The hosts were amazing and so friendly. John greeted us on arrival and showed us around the very extensive accommodations of which we had exclusive use. Both bedrooms were massive and extremely comfortable. They had everything in the rooms from tea/coffee making facilities with loads of biscuits to even bathrobes and slippers in the wardrobe. Not what you would expect in a B&B. There was a massive bathroom with a bathtub and shower which was also well stocked for guest use. Bath salts, bubble bath, lovely soaps and even sanitary products. Again there was a lot of thought and attention put into what any guest may need and more. John then gave us a tour of the living room/dining area which was also very big. He had kindly laid out some lovely fresh cake for our arrival and shown us the extensively stocked breakfast area and advised us to help ourselves at anytime during our stay. There were loads of snacks available from crisps, cakes, biscuits, pastries with healthier options. To be honest there was so much laid on for guests that it would take forever to tell you everything. After being out for dinner we spent the evening watching TV and playing games which were also available for guest use. Even the TV had Netflix in the living area and both guest rooms as well as an APP with loads of movies to choose from. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic. We opted for a cooked breakfast which also exceeded our expectations. Normally you get one of each item but John and Dave certainly did not hold back with food, it was a big breakfast. You could also help yourself to cereal, fruit, yoghurts, pastries etc but after the cooked breakfast we were more than full. As a dog lover the highlight of our stay was meeting Gino the dog, he was absolutely beautiful and such a friendly big dog. To have Gino greet us in the morning was a delight. I just wish we could have stayed longer and highly recommend...

A perfect stay at the Gowanlea Heights. Fantastic hosts, very welcoming. Everything has been thought of and there are lots of great little touches so you've everything you need. Breakfast was brilliant and we were expertly catered for. A great selection of TV options/films were available. Rooms very private, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Communication from the hosts beforehand was excellent. Would definitely stay again if in Campbeltown. Thank you!

There wasn't anything not to like. Stunning property, high quality furnishings and services. The excellent breakfasts were tailored to my request and the availability of a huge range of snacks and juices throughout the day just adds the amazing experience of staying here. Everything that an independent B&B should be. Welcoming, not stingy with extras such as good coffee and plentiful biscuits and mini chocolate bars in room. Decorative standards are high (as are the ceilings) and breakfast was among the best I’ve had. A delight.

We will definitely return! An amazing place to stay

Gowanlea is a home from home, the property is beautiful, the rooms are so comfortable… the extras provided are exceptional… teas, coffees, snacks in the lounge and in the bedrooms… we even had cake left for us one day (which was delicious). The hosts go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely, good selection (also had extras as well as what was ordered) parking at rear of property is an added bonus. Good location.

The property was highly accessible and comfortable. The house had many decorations to make us feel included and at home. The house even had a fireplace that warmed us up during the chilly nights. The television had many channels including Netflix that enabled us to enjoy a variety of movies and films. The place was also great for avid readers as there were books and infographics about Scotland and it’s history .

Exceptional, clean, comfortable, well furnished and friendly.

Gowanlea Heights is extremely well positioned in a quiet area just outside the the town centre of Campbeltown making it peaceful and very convenient for all amenities. John and David (proprietors) made us feel extremely welcome from the outset. We were met with a friendly smile and warming welcome. John showed us around the property which was clean, well furnished and comfortable. A nice touch was the availability of drinks and snacks in the living room which you could help yourself to. Of particular use was the provided web information, recommending local restaurants and places of interest. Breakfast was absolutely superb, a large selection of food available to cater for all tastes. Although we chose to eat out in the evening, there was also the option of purchasing and eating takeaway food with the guest house, with crockery and cutlery provided. Parking is provided at the rear of the property.

The only thing, I could possibly make comment on with this section, is that the bedroom door closer had a little quirk to.

This was the most valuable and luxurious staying I've ever experienced. Especially I really loved the breakfast. I don't have enough vocabularies to explain how it was so delicious. Also many notes made us happier because foreign tourists (like us) don't much know about etiquettes in the UK.

This was a b and b that really went the extra mile. The property was characterful, the host extremely helpful, it seemed that everything had been thought of and provided to make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. Lots of nibbles were made available. Very welcome for two hungry cyclists!
