The apartment is located right in the heart of the Spanish Quarter, full of restaurants, little shops, minimarkets, greengrocers, bakeries, and fish and meat stores. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the metro, and about 10 minutes from a large supermarket, the port, or the airport bus stop. It has two spacious rooms, each with its own bathroom, TV, and air conditioning. The flat was clean, situated on the first floor, with a keypad entry system. The owner was exceptionally attentive and kind, and communication with him was practically instant. He was very accommodating, allowing us to leave our luggage until the evening even though the check-out was at 10 a.m.

Unfortunately, I have to take off one star because, although the apartment is apparently meant to accommodate up to 8 people, the common area felt quite cramped for the four of us. We even had to move the folding table into the hallway so we could all sit around it. That wouldn’t have been such a big issue, but the real downside was the lack of kitchen equipment. Basic items like a kettle, coffee maker, toaster, or even a simple cutting board were missing — and what surprised me most in Naples, there were no wine glasses. So, the apartment isn’t really suited for serious cooking — more for quickly scrambling some eggs in the morning, or even better, going out for breakfast. Personally, that didn’t bother me, but we were traveling with friends who enjoy preparing more elaborate breakfasts at home. For someone who plans to spend most of the day out and about, though, it’s not a major flaw.

The kitchen facilities really could do with an electric kettle. We could not use the gas stove with small lighter. For U.K. and USA guests a kettle is must
