White Sands Village#213: DIRECT OCEANFRONT, BEST LOCATION IN COMPLEX!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. An absolute gem that over looks Magic Sands Beach Park. The unit is recently remodeled and loaded with everything you need. We spent all our time here either on the balcony, at the beach, or pool. We didn’t play tennis or pickleball buts the courts are new. We stayed here for six nights and the time absolutely flew by. We have stayed all over Hawaii and this is one of the best spots. Just a note that they call it “Magic Sands” for a reason. When we stayed the beach was wide and full of white sand, a few days after we left there was high surf and it pulled the sand back out. Which makes the rocky entry a bit more challenging. Also a favorite local pastime is to cruise Alli Drive with some serious tunes blasting at all hours. It makes for the best people watching during the day but at night I would put in ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Overall this place is the perfect Kona hangout spot. When we make it back to Kona this will be the first unit we check for availability. 10/10 Recommend!

This property was perfect! It was clean and had everything we needed. It was close to multiple beaches and snorkeling spots as well as shopping. My family and I loved staying here!

While the view from the lanai of this condo is beautiful, there are too many negatives for us to consider staying here again. We would have rated the condo lower due to the excessive construction noise across the street (which Knutson told us has been ongoing for well over a year and yet was never disclosed), but the owner handled our complaint acceptably. This unit is not air conditioned (which is in the listing); however, the fans that are provided are inadequate. They are painfully old (and very dirty) box fans that neither rotate nor sit high enough to properly cool or circulate the air. We specifically asked Knutson to provide better/newer fans since we couldn’t keep doors open most of the time because of all the (extreme) construction noise, but they didn’t even respond to our request. Additionally, we underestimated how noisy the road would be. This beach is frequented by the locals, which would have been fine were it not for the fact that it seems people greet by way of extended horn honking, revving their engines, and setting off firecrackers. All the homeless people living on both the beach and in vehicles parked along the beach added an extra layer of… interest. It might be considered free entertainment that we got to watch the police come by numerous times, one time even doing a complete person and vehicle search and confiscating drugs. I’m not sure our experience would be considered family-friendly, but everyone has different opinions. For us, the guest bedroom was also very disappointing. We have a 14-year old boy who couldn’t even fit into either of the beds. I understand that having the 2 single beds may allow for more guests but in cases like ours it really limits us. Additionally, the blinds could not be fully closed no matter what we did, so we ended up stuffing spare towels between the slats towards the bottom to keep the sun out, and to prevent people from being able to see the entire bedroom from outside. There are positives to this condo, of course. I felt compelled to write this review as I always read reviews thoroughly myself and found the reviews misleading. I now understand that Knutson pushes renters very hard to not say anything negative online, and to only communicate negatives with them directly. Given that this doesn’t allow prospective renters to book with full transparency, I think it is important that all information be made available online.
