A Rocha Eco-Lodge & Conservation Centre

The staff, community feel, conservation projects and food were wonderful. Really close to a wonderful beach and learnt so much about the conservation of the local area.

Basic facilities but perfect for our needs.

La posizione vicinissima alla bellissima spiaggia, la cortesia e disponibilità di tutto lo staff ( in particolare Betty e Karen) , camere pulite e ottimo cibo! Struttura immersa nel verde,abbiamo apprezzato molto la presenza di diversi tipi di uccelli, farfalle e simpaticissime scimmiette! Abbiamo avuto anche la fortuna di esistere alla nascita di intero nido di tartarughe marine proprio nel tratto di spiaggia davanti alla struttura.

Nice and super friendly atmosphere with simple but very clean rooms. All volunteers and guest have breakfasts and dinner together sharing travel experiences. The beach is very wild but beautiful and many places are reachable just walking to the right (diving, kite, sunbeds, restaurants) but only during the day. For the evening you need your car or call a tuk tuk to go to the village. All the considered and known in advance, we had great time here. Sleeping in the total silence except the sound of ocean has no price for me.

The staff were friendly. The dinning hall atmosphere was really fun with lots of interesting conversations. They encouraged me by responding well to my needs though they had to multi-task. This is a conservation study center, not a hotel per se.

The inquiries phone number doesnt work so you cant confirm your booking. There is no dedicated hospitality person who is trained to take care of clients. Clients don't speak up about their experiences so the staff dont know where they are going wrong. There is no hot water in some rooms. There was no person to bring hot water in buckets to supplement. There is no privacy for some rooms because the windows have no blinds. People on the corridor can see right into the rooms. It is hot but people keep their curtains drawn for privacy which makes the rooms hot. The cooking is creative but sometimes poor. There was too much salt in the food most of the time. However when I suggested that they cook me different items, they were very gracious and worked hard to provide for me. I found it interesting that they required us to wash dishes. That was no problem but for the rates we paid, it should have been supplemented. The drinking water was really salty and the water in my room had been there for so long that it had grown stalactites in the bottle- pretty gross. I had to go out to buy bottled water at a pretty high cost cos transport and supermarket prices are high in this tourist area. This needs to be fixed.
