I've stayed at this property before. The property is very well maintained but it does need more parking for the handicapped. The lobby is very clean and the rooms are nice.
I asked for a first floor room when I made my reservation. I received a notice saying that one would be available. I stated we would check in between 7 and 8 PM when I made my reservation. I called the hotel at 730 PM, gave my name to the clerk and explained we were running late. He did not tell me there was a problem. When we got to the hotel I was told my reservation had been cancelled. No reason was given as to why it had been cancelled. The desk clerk did agree to give me a room but it was on the 2nd floor. I asked why I wasn't told there was a problem when I called and never got a response. I explained to him that I requested a ground floor room because my daughter, who uses a walker, COULD NOT NAVIGATE STAIRS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY and still we were not given the room I has requested and PREPAID for. I travel through out the year and 99 percent of the time I reserve rooms at Hampton but this experience has seriously caused me to rethink that decision. The reason I requested a ground floor room is because we had a fire 3 years AGO AT THE Hampton in Texarkana and my family could not evacuate fast enough for firemen that were there. After the fire, my daughter and I were stuck in the Lobby for 2 hours because she could not get back upstairs without being carried by the firemen on sight. She now has severe panic attacks and must be sedated if we stay anywhere not on the ground floor.
