Luz del Titicaca Lodge

I am giving this place a 10 because I genuinely think that Joel’s family is doing a fantastic job welcoming tourists on Uros islands. This experience cannot and should not be compared to your casual hotel stay - it’s unreasonable to expect all the little comforts of a regular hotel here. So, before staying on any of the floating islands make sure that: - you understand what a dry toilet is - you have enough warm clothes to keep you warm - you are ok to live without a wifi for a little bit :D - you are not expecting full on hot showers with good water pressure If you arrive with the right mindset, expect: - Stunning views - Fantastic cabin stay experience - Generous breakfast - Very attentive and caring staff - A stay that you will remember for the rest of your life!

As mentioned above, given the circumstance, I believe everything was great. The only thing I’d recommend Joel to review is heating. Gas-based heating is not safe to use indoors due to carbon monoxide emissions - especially with a lot of static discharge from the synthetic bedsheets which can make it a fire hazard. I am not sure if there are any reasonable alternatives for it, but just wanted to make sure I comment on this, so it can be taken into account. We ended up not using the heater at all, and Joel was very kind to provide hot water bottles and a enough blankets to be warm even in -6 at night!

We had the most amazing stay with Joel and his family. We stayed in the King Room which was beautifully decorated and had the best views of the lake especially over sunset. We were well looked after with lots of blankets and a heater for the cold nights which made it very cosy! Joel organised some fantastic tours of Uros islands and Taquile which we really enjoyed - he also organised our transfer from Puno which was very smooth. Breakfast and dinners were great. We had a wonderful time staying with Joel and would have loved to have stayed longer or to come back again in the future! Thank you
