Still waiting for the Youth Hostel and Booking.com to sort out a partial refund

Friendly staff. Communal areas cosy and nicely decorated for Christmas. Very clean. Tasty breakfast. Comfortable beds. As noted in other reviews, the ensuite bathrooms contain a shower and a sink but not a toilet. Can't comment on street noise as the street was closed due to building works. Bedrooms were very cold when we arrived (November) - ask for an extra blanket and for assistance working the heating if needed. We checked in late, after Reception was closed, and it was so cold the first night we found it difficult to sleep.

Although there are lots of positives about this Youth Hostel I am having to give a one star review as I am still waiting for a partial refund (due to being over-charged and also due to having no water for one night of the stay). I don't know whether it is the Youth Hostel or Booking.com that is not sorting this out. The Youth Hostel has told me it has approved the partial refund but we stayed at the accommodation a month ago and I have not received any refund. I have messaged Booking.com and phoned but still no money has been refunded. I have used Booking.com before but this is the first time I have had a problem that I need to get resolved and so far I have been really disappointed with the lack of efficiency. Everyone I have spoken to has been nice but nothing gets done. It has made me think twice about using Booking.com in the future.

Good hostel - we were a bit unlucky with our stay

Fire alarm went off around 9pm and it took a long time for anyone to come Unfortunately there are major roadworks on their road which makes parking difficult

It did the job for 1 night, but I expected more

The staff is super and the location is great. You can walk to the center in a few minutes. There is street parking. The room is good for 4 people. The public bathrooms were super clean

Our room smelled bad, the sink was clogged up and would drain very slowly and the shower also smelled bad. I found the beds incredibly uncomfortable unfortunately

Nice hostel in France

Clean room on the top floor for the building. It was very warm, but it was a hot summer day and its a hostel after all so just a heads up - don't be expecting fans or air-conditioning! Breakfast was continental and perfectly decent for being included in the price. For a hostel, it was great - so as long as you keep that in mind when booking, you'll be very happy with this accommodation!

According to expectation.

I liked the bike storage, it provided some extra safety for our bicycles. The breakfast was okay, not bad. Also the location of the hotel was good, it was easy to walk to the city centre.

It was quite a hot day, and our room was therefore also very hot. This made it difficult to sleep, it would be nice to have a way of cooling down the room. Also I would have liked a possibility to check in later than 20:00

It was a really good accommodation for our school trip, the students greatly enjoyed it.

The room was more like a prison cell with green walls and a window so high up you couldn't see outside. The room really was the only negative.

'Plastic' mattresses which are not very comfortable during the summer. Also the heating system appeared to be working while it was already quite hot due to outdoor summer temperatures.
