If you’re looking to hike Pen y Fan. It’s only 20 mins from the horseshoe walk car park. Highly recommend.

Beautiful snug apartment

What a wonderful apartment, lovely decor and exceptionally clean and tidy. The bed was so comfortable to the point it was difficult to get up in the morning. The kitchen had everything you need, we loved the Eccles cakes and milk provided, another surprise was the tea and coffee available. Lovely little touches. Was very good value for money, would highly recommend James Place.

The only downside was a little tricky to find as the name of the flats didn't stand out to us despite using Google maps 😁 Was quite a noisy area however it didn't affect our peace or sleep.

It was an okay stay provided I booked this trip last minute.

The location is great but the studio could have been maintained better. Thanks for the welsh cakes upon arrival.

Heaters have been mounted on ceiling,rendering the house cold and bathroom doesnt even have any heater - hence it’s very cold. Bathroom door doesn’t even stay closed from outside unless you forcefully stop it from opening by itself. Spatulas werent clean.

Our room was nicely decorated, cabin style and clean. Bathroom was a bit small but sufficient.

The room was cold in the night and early morning (The bottom bunk bed is especially cold). perhaps extending the timer of the heaters would be good

Absolutely exceeded our expectations - it's amazing what they've managed to create in that space!

Such a beautifully laid out space. Really cosy, lots of atmosphere, everything you need and right in the heart of town. Free parking behind the building too which was great (this may have been because it was winter).

The entrance is much less glamorous than the inside! The stairs are quite steep going up to the apartment.

Good location for hiking as it close to Pen Y Fan and the Four waterfalls trail :) Bed was super comfy, loved the smart tv and pretty spacious for a studio !

The room had a smell to it, it smelt like dogs or something even thought it was pretty clean and there were reed diffusers.

This place is good for short stay not for relaxing country vibe.

Location is good if you rely on public transport like me. 12mins walk to the main bus station and about 30 mins to the Four waterfalls place by taxi.

It's next to the pub and club, have to keep the windows shut all the time but still very noisy. Also can hear every movement from the other studios due to the thin floor board.

Extremely noisy at night with pubs/bars down the street and motorbiks racing down a busy street. The extractor fan in the bathroom sounds like a tractor😂🙈

The perfect studio!

I had the most amazing stay at James Places. Everything was perfect and the decoration was lovely. The area is brilliant and there is lots to do, the hosts have us lots of suggestions also, their communication was amazing. Everything was perfectly clean and the studio has everything you could need. We will definitely be returning in the future and I would recommend the studios to everyone. Thank you!! ☺️☺️

The photos are what drew me in, but the photos do it justice, I'd never suggest it or go back

The room itself was dirty, I get the rustic theme however it's a good cover up from the fact urs so dirty, the floors were filthy, covered in dirt & hair, the bed linen smelt musky & not fresh atal , the table was sticky the toilet needed a good clean visibly unclean, location wasn't what I was expecting loads of loud teenage boys hanging around vegibd building that shouted over everytime we left room

Location was good as was a short drive to most places to go hiking / sight seeing. Place was clean and well decorated, felt very cosy.

Can be very noisy on the nights with loud cars/people walking back from pubs but as its on the high street it's understandable.

We had a great few days visiting the attractions the area had to offer

Location in Merthyr was great for all the places we wanted to visit around the Brecon Beacons - hikes such as Pen y Fan and the four waterfalls trail, the Big Pit (which was excellent, do the tour of the mine, it was so interesting), the Show Caves, and he Brecon Beacons Railway. Re. the accomodation - decor was very creative and my kids loved the theming. Place was spotlessly clean on arrival.

We are about 80 years old so we should have requested ground or first floor accommodationodation. Thus we found the lack of a traditional handrail on the staircases more difficult than if we were younger.

Good location The room door catch did not work properly. I needed to pull out the latch each time otherwise the door wouldn’t lock. You can hear the next door neighbours very easily

Super cozy, comfy and perfect for everything you could need for a weekend away!

The aesthetics were great. It was very cozy and comfortable and great to have the little kitchenette to make food. Shower was good with warm water. And the whole place was very clean. Although parking doesn’t come with the property the car park close by was very helpful. And additionally, I loved all the extra info given by the owners on the surrounding area and places to go eat and see and drive. That was a lovely touch!

I can’t think of anything that was specifically bad. It was a very comfortable stay

Amazing studio

Wow James place at Pontmorlais was amazing. I was so impressed by the room the decoration it’s so unique and really shows how much the hosts care about guests. I had everything I needed in the room for my stay, very clean and the beds were super comfy! Had a lovely stay and would love to come back.

Good property and great host but area leaves much more to be desired.

Apartment was well catered in terms of furnishings, Welsh cakes and chocolates were a nice touch. enjoyed the smart TV for evening relaxing very simple to use.

All in all the property was great but the local area is extremely run down and the noise pollution and disturbances of people shouting and car horns late at night did detract from the appeal, as well as one extremely loud downstairs resident.

Great little place, with friendly host and fab for a short stay

Fun property and perfect for what we needed. It was clean and cozy. Parking was close by and the host provided us with lots of useful information. Highly recommended if you’re planning a short trip to go walking up Pen Y Fan as it’s very close.

We couldn’t work out how to change the temperature in the room and the main door off the street was very hard to open and close.

Great location and Comfy stay

Modern and stylish finish. Had all the things we needed including plates and cutlery, soft bedding and towels. Close to a large retail park and lots of restaurants nearby too. Ideal location.

My one niggle with the property would have to be the soundproofing of the rooms. You'll be fine if your neighbours are respectful. Other than that no issues or complaints

Overall, a very nice place inside and the little extra touch’s were much appreciated, But the misleading of the parking

The property inside was very nice and clean, It had a good mix of modern and a rustic twist about it.

I was very disappointed about the location and the parking, It was quite misleading I thought, I had to keep going to the car park to add more time on the ticket to pay, The only free parking available was only 20 minutes no return, But the worst part was being right next door to a club/pub which played ridiculously loud music though the night on both our nights, which there was no mention of before we booked. which kept us and our children up until the early hours, which left us to tired to experience some of the things we wanted to do the next morning. There was no way anybody could sleep through this, we almost went home on the last night because of this.

The style of the room was lovely and it was very clean. Owners were lovely.

Shower still leaked and flooded the bathroom floor after owners said it had been fixed. Parking is really poor and no signs to say what building it was just pot luck we tried the key pad otherwise would be none the wiser. Very noisy from the pubs next door and opposite especially on the Friday night.

Gorgeous studio flat in a fantastic location. Highly recommend!

The room had so much character & was really tastefully put together. The kitchenette was super handy with plenty of useful utensils. Bed & linen all clean & super comfortable. Great location & close to all amenities. Really useful info sent to us by hosts ahead of arrival which was handy. Would absolutely stay again!
