Apt Lachenal 209A Central Chamonix Lift 3-min Walk - Happy Rentals

Sehr praktisch und komfortabel eingerichtet, ideale Lage

It was great to have a washing machine. It is a good one. Close to the pedestrian zone. A good sized supermarket is just down that street. We cooked our evening meals easily. Separate toilet is a benefit. The hairdryer was in the bottom drawer in the bedroom. I liked the mountain and snow photos - there was even one from Australia. Spacious living, big kitchen, good bed, tight bathroom but it has a bath. Dated apartment, but modern would cost more. A nearby hotel (Alpina) does a fabulous top floor buffet breakfast that welcomes walk ins for about 22 euro. We had mostly clear weather and the view from the balcony was wonderful of Mt Blanc and its glacier down the slope. Being back up this side of town gives the better view. The view persists if you are down low in the living area but the deep ceiling over the balcony begins to blot out the view if standing. The view is a great feature of this apartment. We had a SIM from 3-UK with a "Go roam Europe" data package for GBP 10 for one month and got internet without issue in the apartment. We checked out of the apartment before check out time. But ended up getting a text and a call to advise us the key was not back in the Happy Rentals lockbox room by the check out time. This is because walking with luggage on cobblestones is slow and the distance to Happy Rentals is not short. The water pressure for the shower is below what I prefer. Also I like it a bit hotter than what was coming out.

The Chamonix Happy Rentals process assumes you arrive by car. By foot, it took us an hour from train arrival to apartment entry. All the key lock boxes are in a little room beside the Happy Rentals office. If you come by train you need an appropriate strategy. Our solution was to leave one person with all the luggage at the station. Another person walks south to the Chamonix Happy Rentals lockbox room (towards Aiguille du Midi gondola). They collect the key and return to the train station. Then all guests go north east, with luggage and key, to the apartment. Arriving at the apartment, if you just follow the Happy Rentals emailed guide, one step at a time, line by line, it assumes you are in a car. So I walked down the car ramp to the basement leaving someone with all the luggage outside, up the top. I found what I thought was the basement door as shown in the photo. I went through it and let the door close behind me without first checking if I could open it from inside. Which I could not. Scary. It was a dark lock up storage zone. Lights may come on briefly as you move. There I found various other doors in different parts and directions. After a while of investigation (I dont read German) I found one of the doors unlocked and thankfully it led to a lift and luckily it did not need a key to call the lift. Escape. This lift got me to the second floor and through to the apartment. What a relief - I had thought I might be spending a long while in a dark storage room waiting for a chance visitor. It is simpler to first read all the way to the footnote that tells about the ground floor on foot entry. We learnt awkwardly that check out time means; the key back at the Happy Rentals office time. Not the time you depart the apartment. So allow time for walking there together with dealing with luggage. Happy Rentals ask you remove the rubbish but do not reveal where to. Not happy. Localização e acomodações muito boas.

Um pouco complicado para pegar as chaves no centro da cidade. Mas o principal ponto a melhorar disponibilizar internet no apartamento - para viajantes internacionais isso faz muita diferença pois o sinal celular no apartamento não é bom e não ter wifi atrapalha no planejamento das visitas, compartilhamento de fotos e conversar com a família.

La casa ha una posizione centrale molto comoda e vicina alla fermata del bus, ha un balcone con una vista sul monte bianco . Al nostro arrivo abbiamo trovato una bottiglia di vino in omaggio

La casa era molto spartana, i mobili un po’ datati , non ci siamo trovati bene con la doccia in quanto la pressione dell’acqua era bassissima . Anche la camera da letto potrebbero renderla un pochino più accogliente
