About this house rental
The Setting
The property sits on twenty private acres in the Mt. Veeder area. Redwoods, oaks, a year-round creek, and a long winding road in. Cell reception is poor to non-existent on the property, which most guests come to appreciate. You are surrounded by working vineyards and hiking, with downtown Napa about twenty minutes away by car.
The House
Custom-built in 2018, with high ceilings, glass walls, and Nanawall doors that fold open to bring the patio and forest into the living space. The house is filled with original art, custom cabinetry, light fixtures from Europe, and the kind of finishes that have been chosen and lived with rather than staged. Radiant-heated concrete floors run throughout. The chef's kitchen has two ovens, a bar-height island that seats five, and a built-in filtered water tap that dispenses still, lightly sparkling, and sparkling water. Cabinets are stocked with all the cookware, dishware, spices, and oils.
The main house has three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The detached cabin has its own entrance and looks out into the redwoods, with a king bed, full bath, and kitchenette. It works as a private suite for guests who want their own space, or as an extra bedroom for a larger group. The house sleeps eight in regular beds, with room for overflow on a pullout couch and bean bag beds.
Outside
A 12x27 pool with an attached 8-person hot tub, surrounded by a flagstone patio with lounge furniture, dining seating, a BBQ, fire pit, ping pong table, basketball hoop, and outdoor shower. The edible garden produces vegetables in summer, with wild blackberries on the property in July and August.
Winter and Summer
Winters here are wet and green. The fireplace runs most evenings, the creek runs full, the rain on the metal roof is something you'll remember. It's a good season for slow cooking, long dinners, red wine, and walks in the forest between rains.
Summers are hot and dry. The pool stays in use from late May through October. Mornings are for coffee on the balcony or yoga on the patio. Afternoons are for the pool or a bike ride down Redwood Road. Evenings are for the BBQ and the hot tub once it cools off.
For Longer Stays
This is set up for guests planning to stay a month or more. A dedicated work desk with a new Mac desktop and a second monitor, Starlink internet, and a Tesla wall battery for power backup. The house is stocked with linens, towels, paper goods, kitchen basics, and everything you'd otherwise need to bring or buy. Weekly housekeeping, weekly pool service, periodic landscaping, and propane for the house, hot tub, and BBQ are included.
What to Know
This is a country property, and country living comes with realities a city home doesn't have. Water, internet, and power can go out occasionally. We move quickly when issues come up, but disruptions are part of the experience. Guests who want predictable city infrastructure will be happier elsewhere.
The house is not childproof. Glass tables, concrete floors, an open pool, and a creek. Kids are welcome with adult supervision, especially around the pool.
Two outdoor cats live on the property. Guests need to be willing to put out food and water for them periodically.
Dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis with prior approval.
No parties, weddings, events, or content production.
No smoking anywhere on the property.
30-day minimum stay, deposit and signed contract required at booking.
