Cartagena Royal Hotel Boutique

This is not really a boutique hotel but an excellent three star hotel. Very central location, modern, comfortable and clean with charming and helpful staff. Breakfast menu was very good too. It was an excellent choice and value for money.

The floor to room was dirty, the shower wouldn't drain quickly enough and shower door wouldn't shut so risked floor getting flooded. Room pretty dated but comfortable. The rooftop jacuzzi was very dated, paint was peeling off from inside and it looked unsavoury. More like a 3 star.

What I did not like was being treated like a teenager. Not having the freedom to have a guess even with a reservation for 2. Then there was a misunderstanding with 1 staff member where I was told I could have a guess if the person was registered. Once registered person ID, copied and was told everything was fine. I get knock on door at 3am saying person had to leave because he made a mistake and couldn't add the person to the system. So my guess was forced out of hotel at 4 am... Horrible experience will never come back! Total miscommunication. They have a stipulation that says we have the discretion to determine if we allow you to have a guest. That needs to be clearly stipulated up front if that is the case! Not when you have already booked, paid for and traveled 3000 miles. This should be expressed "ON THE WEBSITE", in the "BOOKING HOTEL RULES". Not when you've paid, travelled and have no other option or say about it!
