Manohara Borobudur Cultural Center

Peaceful setting . Our visit was mainly to visit the Borobudur temple - this location is perfect for that . Right in the archaeological site to climb the temple . The views are magnificent - even from the large bedroom . The staff are very helpful and pleasant .

Food selections in the restaurant was limited .

We loved the location of the Manohara Borobudur, the staff were very helpful, always smiling and we felt welcome. The proximity to the Borobudur Temple makes this hotel a must stay when in this area.

WiFi can be spotty and they didn't have a water station, which we thought was odd given the amount of activity and heat in the area. They did bring us bottles of water on request.

Meals were basic. The location of our room/hillside cabin was SUPER. We looked straight over at the Borobudur site across the valley. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful and provided a spare charger for my phone. We paid for breakfast twice - as part of our stay at Manohara however it was also provided as part of the Borobudur sunrise ticket. As part of the ticket it was quite reasonable however it was only passable as a hotel paid breakfast.

It's too easy to find minor irritations so I won't - they were of little or no consequence to the stay.

The hotel is within the borobudur park itself. The proximity to the attraction is the biggest advantage. The ox tail soup was good. There's a borobudur view from the room.

The rooms on booking.com are on the other side of the park, at the top of a hill, Bukit dagi. It takes roughly 5-10 min for a one-way shuttle ride. Therefore, it's not very convenient. The worst part is that it is super difficult to take Grab or Gojek from the hotel, because it is located within the park and Grab or Gojek do not allow picking up inside the park. It took me more than half an hour to get a car after 3 cancellations. You need to pin the location just outside the security guard post then text the driver or ask the front desk girl to help. Check-in process was also super slow. We were waiting there from 1pm. The receptionist only started the check-in at 1.58pm, and took roughly 15 min. We had to wait for another couple to finish their check in and got to the same shuttle car to go to the room. Don't understand why she couldn't finish the paper work before 2pm and send all of us to the room at 2pm sharp.
