Chambres d'hôtes au Château de Gizeux

A unique experience in a fairytale setting. A whole new dimension to the concept of luxury: meeting the family who own the château, being welcomed by Mrs Stéphanie with an aperitif and a pleasant chat (in English – my French is limited), having her prepare a fantastic dinner and breakfast for you… And the luxury of being the château’s only guests, with the chance to explore it on your own. Magical! What’s more, the swimming pool is another bonus in summer. Definitely recommended!

It’s not a fault, but with this type of accommodation, you simply can’t expect to have a TV in the room or a fridge. There’s no need for them.

What an extraordinary place! The château has clearly been renovated with so much care, love, and attention to detail. We are already looking forward to visiting again in the future and seeing what has changed with the ongoing improvement works :) Our host was incredibly welcoming and friendly. She even hosted an apéritif before dinner in the château, which was such a lovely and cozy experience and made our stay feel truly special. Besides castle dinner, we also tried out the picnic option and it was very tasty! We stayed in the treehouse just outside the château, but is still gave us the privilege of enjoying the view of the castle (+ tour of the castle) and spending plenty of time by the pool almost alone. The treehouse itself is snug and charming- and bit of off-grid experience. :) The shower (very good one!) and toilet are located close by in a separate outhouse, which was kept very clean. Walking to the toilet under the stars in the evening was actually an unexpectedly cute parts of the experience. We also highly recommend taking a little walk around the château in the evening; the sunsets are beautiful. Breakfast was delivered to us each morning and was in French style: fresh bread and croissants, with something a little different each day. When we asked for juice, our request was immediately taken care of the next morning. We also stayed with our dog, which was absolutely no problem. She loved the peace and quiet and enjoyed exploring and walking around the beautiful garden. All in all, this was a truly memorable stay. :)

Only minor things: while the treehouse is comfy, it is essentially a bed only and water for freshening up, so while we loved the experience, we did feel the price was perhaps a little on the high side for what the treehouse itself offers. That said, we can only speak for the treehouse - we had a look at some of the other rooms, and they were absolutely beautiful. :) The internet connection in the treehouse was not great (Wi-Fi available in the château). We took this as part of the experience and enjoyed having an excuse to disconnect for a while, but it is definitely something to be aware of if you are planning to stay.

Een hele sympathieke en vriendelijke gastvrouw. Kamer was heel mooi, beetje opknap werken nodig maar niet echt storend. (Je verblijft dan ook in een oud kasteel.) Een hele mooi omgeving midden in de natuur.

Het ontbijt viel enorm tegen, was echt pover voor een B&B 1 croissant/persoon,( niet echt krokant), stokbrood, een speciaal broodje. Er was enkel confituur als beleg, koffie was ook niet echt warm. Wel vers geperst sinaasappelsap indien gewenst. We waren er in de periode waar het enorm warm was, geen drinken te verkrijgen in de château en drinken meebrengen was onmogelijk want er was geen frigo voorzien. Gastvrouw niet te vinden of telefonische te bereiken.
