Hostal Hera

Really beautiful place for a tourist visiting Barcelona. In the living heart of the tourist part of the city. All attractions were minutes away from our room. Rooms were clean and staff was polite and professional. There is always someone at the reception desk 24/7 which is nice. Some people were writing bad reviews, complaining about mold in the hallway at the first floor. This problem has been removed, there is no mold. Hostel on third floor while that issue was on the first. I also saw some complaints about loud place. I understand that some people have really sensitive sleep. But for me and my partner it was ok and even gave to the atmosphere of being submerged in the city that never sleeps. The street and the view from balcony is beautiful.

I think that for the price, the minuses are ok Furniture is not that new, and there is no safe locker in the rooms nor it is present on reception These are only two cons that I could name So If you arrive at Hera, please be prepared, that there will be no safe locker present. Old furniture is ok for the price, I can not really complain. It is all working fine, just a bit worn

Excellent location, close to different transportation stations (train, metro, bus stations), right in the El Born neighborhood, very close to the Barceloneta area, gothic quarters, easily walkable distance to many tourist attractions. Very nice neighborhood to stay and go out in, with a lot of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops, filled both with tourists and locals. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money. Free tea all day and coffee in the morning. The beds were comfortable.

Although true to the description, the room is quite small and basic. We had the quadruple room with private bathroom. There isn't much space to put your bags or your things or for more people to move around at the same time, there are only the beds in the room and a clothes rack with 5-6 hangers. The bathroom is also small, but it has all you need. There is also a small fridge. The fridge plug went off 2 times. Although the hall is well heated and the heaters were hot there, the one in the room was warming up much slower and the room was a bit colder than the hall (we were there in late November/early December), but with four people in a small room it gets warmer as you stay in :))) There is no elevator and the stairs are a bit worn off in places, it was ok for us, but it might be a bit uncomfortable for some. The walls are rather thin and you might hear the neighbors, depending on how loud they are.

It's great location. It’s very close to Rambla, Cathedral of Barcelona and only 3 mins walk to Train Grand Station Francia and about 5 mins to Metro station Barceloneta, 15 min walk to Columbus monument. There are so many shops, bars around and open late so you can enjoy your time. There is a homemade butcher shop La Botifarreria which you can find very good ham, salami, cheese sausages, etc. Price is very reasonable in this area. Also you don't have to search far for Chocolate because the famous chocolate Amatller is just right at the corner. Double room is cozy and bathroom is clean. We travel during winter season so always have very hot water. There always have tea and coffee at the reception desk. We traveled on the time many metro stations are on maintenance and arrive at midnight so the best from Airport to the Hotel by Metro to Barceloneta.
