B&B Kolymbetra

Easily accessible, with good signage, on the corner of a main thoroughfare, just five minutes walk, uphill, from the central rail station. Very convenient for walking around the historic centre of Agrigento, which is on the side of a hill overlooking the famous valley of the temples. Particularly welcoming and obliging hosts, who have managed the B&B for many years. A very personal feel to the property, making you feel like a guest in somebody's house, but with complete privacy and freedom of access. The room was well laid out and very well maintained, and quiet. A simple breakfast in a central room. Just a couple of minutes walk away is one of the few major car rental offices on the island which is located outside of the airports : Avis/Budget. So, it was easy to enjoy the sites of the town on foot, with regular bus connection to the Valley of the Temples - the major attraction - avoiding parking charges etc, and to pick up a hire car on leaving.

On several levels with no lift, and short runs of stairway. Not a problem for me, but some might like to request convenient room near the reception area.

It was clean and cosy.

We were given a first rate welcome with plenty of information about the location.

This place is all about "Location, Location, Location". We stayed in a quadruple room, with 3 beds (2 singles and 1 queen). Overall, everything was as described in the property details. Host was really accomodating but we didn't really ask much outside of normal requests.

There is one thing that I thought was just strange and a few things that could have been improved. Strange thing: For 4 of us we only got one key to the room. On that keychain there was also a key that was required to be in the room in order to have electricity. That special key was soldered(yes you read that right) to the keychain. This made things really complicated if your group wanted to split up. There should always be multiple key sets for when you have more than one guest staying. Other things to improve: 1. Mattresses were really uncomfortable. 2. Some other comment mentioned that they found hair under their pillow when they checked in. My wife checked and also found hair under our pillow. Besides that, the apartment was very clean however. 3. No "Do not disturb" placard. This could just be my opinion as an American tourist, maybe this is totally fine for Italians or other Europeans. We were only staying here for 3 nights and my assumption was that unless I requested the room would not be cleaned. However, first day when we got back to the room I noticed that trash was taken out and towels were replaced. I just didn't expect someone to go into the room without my permission. Again, no big deal, just something to be aware of.
