The heating was not working in our room the receptionist moved us to another room without an issue very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was good and the hotel was lovely and warm.

The hotel is excellent, a well stocked bar, great breakfast.

Shower was piping hot in the morning but luke warm in the afternoon.

Lovely restaurant staff, great breakfast and a big comfy room. Good location too, especially for breakfast.

It's starting to look a bit tired - wear and tear mainly, and dated. Given it's location I'm sure a refurb would pay off.

The room was a bit of a shambles. The curtains were broken and shambled. the carpet stained. The bathroom grout was mildewed. Greatly disappointed.

We had a very friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. Our room was generous and yet cosy. The facilities in the room were fab. Loved the walk-in shower. The serving staff at dinner were also friendly and helpful. The view from the dining room, over the golf course, were wonderful as the sun rose at breakfast.

Minor point - no usb charger equipped plugs in the room.

The pictures on Booking on which we based the decision to spend 244 GBP was of a lovely room with golf course view. Well the first room we were shown had no view and a fire staircase to look at. The second room, which was the only other choice was small with a small bed and in front of the building. View on the parking lot and an adjacent appartement building. We could hear voices at night and in the morning. We had made a reservation at Grenshaw restaurant. Based on our initial disappointment we decided to check it out and arranged for a table with a view on the golf course. Well after we dropped our belongings in the room we went downstairs and the table we were told was ours was given to someone else. Needless to say I was fuming at that point and shared my frustration with the lack of performance. We were given another table and our server turned out to be someone with zero personality and no interest in taken care of his guests. All in all the only awful experience of our 8 days in Scotland. We will also file a complaint with Booking.com as we do not mind paying full price but not for a lousy experience.

Our request for a quiet table for dinner in the bar was met with ease. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable. The varied and well presented breakfast in the restaurant,looking over the golf course with the sun shining , was a lovely start to our day.

The weather was hotter than normal and the lack of air conditioning was evident. Also an elevator for the the upper floors would be a great addition bringing suitcases to the room.

Needs to be updated. Heating not coming on to heat rooms when it should.

Service was lacking. Room not cleaned daily. Towels not changed which was surprising for a 4 star.

Old layout which is really strange if you stay walking through the small hallway which seams to be between the kitchens. The rooms are ok but old and could do with updating for the price people are paying.

The Scottish breakfast was very good. Location of hotel next to golf course was our primary requirement.

Overall it was tatty and needs refreshed. Carpets are worn and stained.

Nice old hotel well maintained. Beautiful views over the golf course. Had a nice dinner, the restaurant has windows that look out onto the course.

Nice location. The staff that were on duty couldn't be more helpful. Room was nice, large bathroom with walk-in shower and room had tea/coffee making facilities.

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed for dinner service. Staff on duty were very busy all the time, but not enough of them. Service was slow and food was ok, nothing exceptional. Few items on menu unavailable then overheard others being told that further items had ran out. Full of overseas visitors and don't think the hotel presented itself in its best light, in my opinion. Breakfast also wasn't great, milk on cereal table lay empty for 45 mins, poached eggs arrived on plate with toast coming 5 mins later. Not the best! Again very few staff on duty and this obviously impacted on the service available, they can't reasonably be expected to remain on top of everything, which is a shame as they themselves couldn't have been nicer. Bit disappointed with the food side, it's letting the hotel down and needs addressing.

Hot water issues, room was a bit tired and items in the bathroom were failing.

Location for Golf, but nothing special, not like into Picture of Booking or another travel sites.

Hotel in need of renovation, poorly maintained, windows in dining room dirty, walls in bathrooms mouldy, rooms above kitchen are rotting from kitchen ventilation, room 227 has a stench from the kitchen through the ventilation, room 219 directly above the kitchen unbearable noise, immediate surroundings of the hotel untidy. The hotel does not even meet one star for the price. Tasteless coffee at breakfast. Hidden, if you can avoid the hotel.
