Our room was over the reception area which had loud music playing all night. In addition the plumbing was noisy so pretty poor sleep.

Lovely hotel, will visit again.

We had a very friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. Our room was generous and yet cosy. The facilities in the room were fab. Loved the walk-in shower. The serving staff at dinner were also friendly and helpful. The view from the dining room, over the golf course, were wonderful as the sun rose at breakfast.

Minor point - no usb charger equipped plugs in the room.

Deceptive pictures to make you pay top money for the worst experience of our Scotland visit!!!

Not much, other than the fact that the shower was adequate.

The pictures on Booking on which we based the decision to spend 244 GBP was of a lovely room with golf course view. Well the first room we were shown had no view and a fire staircase to look at. The second room, which was the only other choice was small with a small bed and in front of the building. View on the parking lot and an adjacent appartement building. We could hear voices at night and in the morning. We had made a reservation at Grenshaw restaurant. Based on our initial disappointment we decided to check it out and arranged for a table with a view on the golf course. Well after we dropped our belongings in the room we went downstairs and the table we were told was ours was given to someone else. Needless to say I was fuming at that point and shared my frustration with the lack of performance. We were given another table and our server turned out to be someone with zero personality and no interest in taken care of his guests. All in all the only awful experience of our 8 days in Scotland. We will also file a complaint with Booking.com as we do not mind paying full price but not for a lousy experience.

Lovely location for beach walks and golf. Great service in a very comfortable hotel.

Our request for a quiet table for dinner in the bar was met with ease. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable. The varied and well presented breakfast in the restaurant,looking over the golf course with the sun shining , was a lovely start to our day.

Could have been better

Nice location. The staff that were on duty couldn't be more helpful. Room was nice, large bathroom with walk-in shower and room had tea/coffee making facilities.

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed for dinner service. Staff on duty were very busy all the time, but not enough of them. Service was slow and food was ok, nothing exceptional. Few items on menu unavailable then overheard others being told that further items had ran out. Full of overseas visitors and don't think the hotel presented itself in its best light, in my opinion. Breakfast also wasn't great, milk on cereal table lay empty for 45 mins, poached eggs arrived on plate with toast coming 5 mins later. Not the best! Again very few staff on duty and this obviously impacted on the service available, they can't reasonably be expected to remain on top of everything, which is a shame as they themselves couldn't have been nicer. Bit disappointed with the food side, it's letting the hotel down and needs addressing.

Hotel in need of renovation, poorly maintained, windows in dining room dirty, walls in bathrooms mouldy, rooms above kitchen are rotting from kitchen ventilation, room 227 has a stench from the kitchen through the ventilation, room 219 directly above the kitchen unbearable noise, immediate surroundings of the hotel untidy. The hotel does not even meet one star for the price. Tasteless coffee at breakfast. Hidden, if you can avoid the hotel.

Lovely stay, great location, beautiful beach.

Lovely homely feel. Made to feel very welcome, even the guests chatted to each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Great location, easy walk to town or beach. Also close to location’the last witch of Scotland’ which is a moving true story about Dornock.

Rooms could do with an upgrade but they just have a great new manager Philippe, I’m sure he’ll be on it!

The hotel location was great, close to the beach. Breakfast was lovely, the staff were very helpful. Bedroom was a good spec and had tea and coffee facilities.One electric car charger did actually work, big bonus for anyone in an electric vehicle.

The room we were given was above the kitchen and a very noisy extraction fan. OK after 10pm, but back on about 6am

Close proximity to the town of Dornoch and right on the footsteps of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Great views of the golf course and a quick hop to get to the golf course or town. Loved being able to walk down to breakfast or dinner without having to leave the property. Friendly staff. Easy on-site parking.

Service at the restaurant was slow. Perhaps a bit understaffed? Food was good but could be better. Didn’t understand how the heating in the room worked. If the sun didn’t warm up the room, it was cold.

I loved the room, outlooking the first tee at Royal Dornoch golf course, the huge shower room, the breakfast and the free parking next to the front door.
