Izu-no-umi Hotel

The bed was fantastic. It is the best bed I slept in. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep.

It was to bad. There is a seven - eleven which sells food and it not to far by taxi to eat.

Location was perfect to get to everything we wanted to do and the staff were amazing so friendly and helpful

The staff were very kind and helpful and even drove us to the train station because of the rain

The wifi connection worked but wasn’t too fast.

I liked the location of the hotel because it was in between Atami Castle and Atami Station. In between both these landmarks, there are so many thing to see and explore. The hotel was cozy despite being given a room on the third floor and without an elevator. The bathroom was really big and the water temperaure and pressure are perfect for the very hot summer weekend. The hotel reception staff (or owner) was really friendly and accommodating. There are also a toilet available on the lobby and microwave ovens to reheat bento boxes, and deposit service for luggage even after check-out. The futon beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious (Japanese-style room).

Unfortunately the air-conditioner seemed old and broken. It was not working properly because despite setting it to the lowest possible temperature, the room was not being cooled. The inside of the air-conditioner was also dusty and may have contributed to its malfunction. This was very difficult because it is in the middle of July, beginning of the intense and humid summer season in Japan. Another issue is that the windows of the hotel room do not have screens, so mosquitoes are free to enter the room. I could not sleep properly because mosquitoes were literally feasting on me the whole night, with me waking up to several bites on my arms. It was not at all pleasant.
