Superb location and a lovely property
8.0 / 10.0
The property was located 1 mile East of Penygroes and close to Snowdon Mountain range. As such, public transport was not as frequent as say in an urban city and so required private transport to get the best of the area. The property had lovely views which was welcome. Facilities in the property were good, although there were a couple of areas which could have been better for me. These are below, but I stress that these are my personal likes and so may not detract from your own experience.
Overall we had a really lovely stay. Everything that we needed with good information and facilities.
Note that these are based on my own personal niceties and so may differ to others. They certainly didn’t detract from the stay but I feel that for me it could have added to it.
- Softer bed … the bed was middling but a little firm for me due to arthritis in my spine.
- Better shower. The current was an electric shower which for me is always a pain to set the temp and lacks power for a good shower.
- Steps up to the cottage - okay for me but may be difficult for elderly.

The property being in an elevated position gave us great views of the surrounding countryside. The owner was very helpful and helped us unload our car, we then had a full and thorough guide to the property and items therein.i
I don't think there was anything that we didn't like. The stairs to the upper level took some getting used to, however, were secure

Communication with the hosts was first class. We had an unfortunate unrelated, occurrence on the evening prior to our departure but they were understanding and made sure we were ok. Took the time to show us around, ensure we were comfortable with everything and giving us tips of places to visit. The local walking routes was a nice touch and we took advantage of it! Fantastic hosts

Location is great, lots to do in local area. Made to feel welcome and house was lovely and clean on our arrival. Good value for money.
There’s nothing we didn’t like.
Only thing that could improve the house would be having a washing machine, dishwasher and TV upstairs, but not a big deal that there isn’t!

Communication with the owner before my arrival was excellent. The owner lived next door to the property and showed me around on arrival whilst remaining covid safe. During the whole of my stay, the owner respected my privacy. The property was as described, spacious, warm, well equipped and welcoming. Parking was on the street at the bottom of the steps leading to the property and I had no problems parking- the owner ensured there was always a space for me there. As the property is in an elevated position it didn't have people walking past it, didn't suffer from car noise and had great views of the surrounding countryside, especially of the sun setting behind the hills and mountains. The owner had printed out two local places to visit, I went to one- Dorothea Quarry, a short walk away, which I found fascinating and a great place to explore the ruined buildings as well as the views.
I used the property as a base to explore Snowdonia and Anglesey- the roads from the property were excellent.
I would recommend the property for singles, couples and small families that are able-bodied due to the steps.
Nothing to dislike

Wonderful views over surrounding countryside. Spacious airy living room/kitchen. Back garden. Good shower. Ideally located for walking. Cycle paths nearby.
Could have done with a few more cooking utensils but not a problem as we had our own.
