Hacienda Baru

Big and comfortable room in beautiful surroundings with lots of wildlife! We saw coatis, iguanas and agoutis just on the 1 minute walk to breakfast on our first day! The pool is huge and we had it all to ourselves :) Great and friendly staff, especially in the restaurant, and the breakfast was delicious! We also highly recommend the 3h wildlife tour, our guide Jorge was great and very knowledgeable and managed to find four sloths for us to see!

This isn't a criticism as we knew this ahead of booking, and it makes a lot of sense for an ecolodge, but it's worth reiterating that there is no AC so the rooms do get hot. We were very happy to find a big standalone fan (in addition to the two ceiling fans) in our room which meant we could sleep comfortably despite the heat and humidity. The check-in experience felt a bit rushed and not overly friendly, plus we were told breakfast opens at 7 when it in fact opened at 6, but maybe the guy just had a bad day or something!

Einzigartige Lage. Es war für uns wunderbar, jeden Morgen aufzuwachen, als erstes die noch kilometerlangen leeren Trails auf dem Reservat zu laufen, später mit einem Kaffee vor dem Bungalow zu sitzen und Besuch von Nasenbären, Agoutis und unzähligen Vögeln zu bekommen. Wer Tiere sehen will, ist hier richtig, und einen menschenleeren Strand hat man auch nach 10 Minuten Fussweg erreicht. Das im Übernachtungspreis inbegriffene Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet, und auch das Abendessen im Restaurant sehr zu empfehlen und preislich absolut fair. Die ganze Anlage ist superschön, das Personal sehr nett und es gibt einen relativ großen Pool zur Abkühlung. Ich fands toll.

Die Bungalows an sich bekommen leider nicht ganz so viel Liebe ab wie der Garten und die Anlage, die sind geräumig und sauber, aber gewinnen sicher keinen Preis für Innendesign und es wirkt alles auch schon recht abgenutzt. Es fehlte uns dort auch eine gemütliche Ecke, wo man sich abends gern aufhält. Aber angesichts aller Vorzüge, die man sonst hier hat, würde ich darüber hinwegsehen. Die Ventilatoren gegen die Hitze haben uns ausgereicht, man kann auch das Personal noch nach zusätzlichen Standventilatoren fragen

Isolé sees coins plus touristiques. Très calme. Accès à une merveilleuse plage déserte gigantesque.

Il faisait chaud dans les chambres. Des ventilateurs plus puissants seraient les bienvenus.

The property had animals all around the hiking trails.

It was a bit noisier than expected. The adjacent highway was loud with large trucks all day/ night. I know this is not in their control. During the morning we could not sit on the porch because of workers cutting the grass and building a new structure using power tools and banging hammers. It was unpleasantly loud. Only a wildlife tour of the property is probably a better experience!
