About this cottage rental

This beautiful, super-deluxe 5 star holiday Retreat has it all! Set in the most picturesque Woodland, the stunningly designed Georgian House enjoys a very private location with superb views over the Strathearn Valley. Only 10 minutes from Scotland's Best Restaurant, The Gleneagles Hotel, Spa, Golf Courses and the scenic Scottish Highlands - it's the perfect location for a holiday in Perthshire, Scotland!

Enjoy the picturesque setting, wonderful views and sunsets from the sheltered decking area. The perfect place for a BBQ and to take a relaxing soak in the traditional, Swedish-style Hot Tub, as the sun dips down over Ben Vorlich and the Crieff hills in the West.

New additions this year include a fabulous freestanding wooden Sauna and a freshly decorated, bright and airy Garden Room which provides an additional TV (smart/ HD) Room at the property as well as the perfect quiet place to come and relax, study or meditate.

Guests at the Woodland Retreat also enjoy the use of a lovely Tennis Court and Free Salmon Fishing on the River Earn - all on the doorstep!

'Wow!' is the first word that springs to mind when you step inside this amazing cottage. The beautiful interior has been renovated to the highest speculation and is full of style and character.

The cottage is a superb, Listed example of Georgian architecture. It has been lovingly restored to successfully marry the charm and character of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices.

The entire interior has been newly renovated and modernised to incorporate a very large open-plan contemporary living space with solid oak floors and underfloor heating throughout. The ceilings are incredibly high and the unique central sandstone chimney is a striking feature which facilitates the definition of the three living areas in the heart of the cottage.

A stylish, fully equipped kitchen complete with all mod-cons (Nespresso Coffee machine) and a Caithness stone worktop leads to the bright, wooden panelled dining area. The large oak table seats 8 comfortably, and offers fantastic South views out into the garden and beyond.

A wonderful atmospheric and cosy Lounge is created around the wood-burner, where comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching out on in front of the fire.

Beautiful Georgian windows have shutters and window seats and are the perfect place to enjoy a book or get the binoculars out and study visiting wildlife.

There are two spacious, bright, South-facing Bedrooms:

The Double (en suite) Room is beautifully decorated with an extremely comfortable kingsize bed, made up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen.

Both Bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with hair-dryers, fluffy bathrobes and slippers.

The En Suite is very light and high-ceilinged with a large Shower and window.

The Twin Room is also high-ceilinged and extremely bright, with windows to both the South and West. There are two twin beds which can be made into a double if necessary.

The Family Bathroom is large and spacious with a generous doubled ended bath, separate walk in shower and is stocked with organic shampoo and soap. The lighting is high-tech; enjoy a romantic candle-lit bath bathed in stunning blue light!

Adjacent to the back door is a separate Outhouse/Utility Room, which is the perfect Washing and Drying Room. There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, an overhead pulley and underfloor heating. Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when they are not in the garden. Please note that, due to our allergy free status, pets are not allowed in the house at any time.

For your Entertainment there is a 57' Smart/HD flat screen TV with free Sky Sports and Entertainment, a sub-woofer sound system and DVD player. There is a good selection of maps as well as interesting books on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.

Guests at the Woodland Retreat can also enjoy playing tennis on an astro grass tennis court. The court is a short distance from the cottage and has the same stunning views across the Strathearn Valley.

Visitors can enjoy many wonderful walks through private woodlands and along the River Earn, where they can see fish jumping, deer, pheasant, partridge and red squirrels crossing woodland trails and birds of prey soaring overhead.

The Woodland Retreat is also centrally positioned to visit top tourist attractions; The City of Perth, Glenturret whisky distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens and Crieff are only 15mins from the cottage. Scone Palace, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are all easily accessible in under 30mins as is Loch Tay and the Scottish Highlands.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are both reached within an hour, making the Woodland Retreat the ideal base for a holiday in Scotland.

A wonderful home from home with all that you could need for a relaxing break. We stayed for my son’s 21st and we enjoyed cooking a lovely meal, using the hot tub and exploring the area. We also liked having the friendly horses in the paddock. It was great for our dogs as well and they stayed in the out house. We visited the Glenturret distillery, House of Bruar and ate at the Smiddy Haugh and Gleneagles which are all to be recommended. Thanks to Jamie and Johnny for making our stay so memorable. :)

This property is appropriately named the ‘Woodland Retreat’ as it is the perfect location to switch-off. We are returning guests and plan to stay again next year which says it all. In addition to the fantastic property, there is much to explore for all ages in the area.

We returned from our stay at the wonderful woodland retreat feeling relaxed and refreshed. It was a lovely place it turned out to be to spend our honeymoon. We chose it for the reviews and location. We wanted to get away from it all. We spent just under a week at the cottage. It was a great place to relax and use as a base to explore the area. The house on arrival did not disappoint. Clean, comfortable and little touches with provisions that made it a bit more special. The hot tub was ready for us and Johnny had been in communication throughout our arrival. Jamie also helped when we had a question. Really lovely family. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen nicely equiped. Our daughter loved visiting the ponies in the field. The view down the valley beautiful.Would I go back to the woodland retreat, definitely. The woodland retreat is surrounded by trees so keeps you snuggled up and away from the winds. I sat at the front of the house a lot just sitting listening to the birds, and the wind, simply wonderful. We were looking for rest and relaxation and we definitely got it.Thanks again

The house is stunning set in the countryside with views all around. It is even more stunning in real life than in the photos. Every need was catered for with thoughtful extras like a welcome pack and the hot tub heated for arrival. We were met by Jamie who showed us everything we needed for a memorable stay, and was available by text if we needed anything. Our favourite moments were spent in the hot tub in the evenings as the sun went down listening to the birds and watching red squirrels in the trees. Great base for visiting the sites. Perth nearby has everything you might need from shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Edinburgh took us an hour but a lovely drive there , make sure you book parking in advance otherwise parking can be a nightmare. We booking easily on line. Truly a magnificent stay will definitely visit again.

As soon as we approached the property, we loved the outward appearance and grounds. The views all around were spectacular and the interior of the cottage was not a disappointment. It was rustic and beautiful inside and spotlessly clean throughout. My friend and I wanted to get away for a few days and chill/meditate and enjoy the outdoors, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect location. The beds were very comfortable and the hosts had provided everything you could possibly want, and more to make our stay perfect. Neither of us wanted to leave and we'll definitely be back next year. The wood fired hot tub was very easy to use and we were in there for a couple of hours every day. We're both nature lovers and there were always red squirrels, roe deer and pheasants in the garden and surrounding woods, along with many other species of birds. Although we didn't see any owls or woodpeckers, we heard them. We also saw a capercaillie, which was a first for me and whilst walking in the woods, we saw dozens of newts in the water filled ditches at the sides of the forrest road, which is another first for me. Altogether a magic experience for us both, thanks

We have been to this property on several occasions, and to the sister property on several occasions also and it always hits the spot. These cottages are the PERTHfect places for R&R and are immaculately clean, designed and extremely well equipped. Whether you like walking, fishing, hot-tubbing or just looking into the crystal clear night skies these cottages have it all. Thank you for yet another fabulous stay - The Roberts Family.

This was such a special place. The hosts were so thoughtful and kind. We enjoyed this large beautiful space and treasured our hot tub moments listening to the wildlife at night. The location was perfect for our explorations across the middle if Scotland.
