Beautiful and sympathetically restored, in a stunning location in the hills above Salo. The grounds and gardens are particularly lovely, with a variety of comfy seating in different spots. A peaceful and relaxing stay.

The evening meals were disappointing, with a fancy sounding menu that didn’t deliver. I simpler menu, as provided at lunchtime, would have been more successful.

The garden (its tranquility and peacefulness) overcomes some minor drawbacks of the property

Perfect place to just relax. The best breakfast in any stay in Italy - the night before you select what you want to eat (just select all options). A gluten-free option is also possible. After breakfast, the kitchen provides lunch, dinner or just wine with snacks for an additional cost (all turns into a nice restaurant). Everything is served on a terrace overlooking the beautiful garden with lake Garda in the background. In the wonderful garden, you can find a mini swimming pool, stunning plants and some places to relax. If you want to use the sauna or the hot tub - that is an extra charge (as well as bikes, mopeds, wine/honey tastings, horse rides, helicopter rides etc.). The location is nice (apart from the road leading to the property), if it was located directly at the lake shore then it would be perfect (Garda is about 40 minutes walk away). You can also buy some local products - wine, grappa, olive oil and honey (recommend all of them).

Have in mind that the road from Salo that leads to the hotel is an unpaved, dirt, hill-climbing, one-lane road. hard to imagine getting there in a sports car. Our room had small windows limiting the light and no 'central lighting' - which made it dark even with the lights on. There is not much furniture in the room - just one small closet is not sufficient even for a pair, there should be also some dresser / chest of drawers (and the style of the room collides with the style of the reception and the outside of the hotel). The air conditioning control system is a mystery - even if you turn it off it still turns on in the morning waking you with an unpleasant whir. The water pressure in the bathroom is also annoying - at some point it turns to zero and then goes back to full). No lift in the building and the parking is a bit far from the main building so be prepared to carry your heavy items.

A beautiful retreat close enough to be amongst it all but a wonderful retreat to come back to

Beautiful property, well maintained and very helpful obliging staff . We dined in both nights, the food was very good and when on the first night a steak dish was tough it was quickly replaced with a new steak which was exceptionally good. The staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay an excellent experience.

The room on our booking stated a full ground floor apartment with additional amenities but we actually got a very nice normal room upstairs. Not unhappy at all with our room but an obvious disconnect between booking and delivery.

Excellent, knowledgable staff focused completely on the customers needs. The hotel was stunning with an exclusive feel and everything is focused on delivering luxury during the stay. The food was exceptional and the quality of wines and drinks excellent. Many elements of the food and drink came from the farm that is part of the hotel and these were delicious. Having breakfast, drinks or supper on the terrace was wonderful and we will remember our stay at the Borgo for the rest of our lives.

Beautiful quiet getaway

The accomodation was absolutely beautiful, situated on a hill overlooking the grounds and the lake. Well kept gardens all around. Comfortable rooms and very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was also great.

The swimming pool was actually not large enough to swim in and we had mysterious tapping and scratching noises in the walls of our room which kept us awake sometimes.
