Residence Terra Rossa Taormina

Everything was well above my expectations! The view, the beautifully curated gardens, 6 minutes walk to the beach/bus/cable car, the well-equipped and spacious room, the ease of check-in and check-out, the friendly staff; it felt like a boutique oasis!

Nothing to criticize, but slightly further away from Taormina centre than I was expecting, especially as a solo traveler at night. But overall, my stay was brilliant!

Beautiful hotel and the grounds and views are beyond stunning and very well maintained. The pool was a really lovely temperature. The cafe is really helpful and the rooms were clean, cool and nice. Would highly recommend for families with children and people wanting a relaxed pool experience in Taormina.

You have to be prepared for the steps, if you like to go out to eat and get dressed up, be aware to get to Taormina in summer can be hot and sweaty, we found ourselves staying at the hotel more than we usually would because we didn't want to get up the stairs in 40 degree heat multiple times a day. This wouldn't be an issue outside of July and August. Would prefer to have the ability to flush paper as a lady (given elsewhere in Sicily this wasn't a problem). Equally, having to clear and separate all rubbish didn't feel like a pleasant part of our stay but is maybe part of the residence being more like a rental than a hotel. Perhaps the residence could add more loungers or umbrellas as there were some people getting up early to reserve them. Lastly, I would encourage the hotel to update the photos of the garden view apartments, as they show the photos for the sea view room. We booked when no sea view rooms were available so were not aware our views wouldn't be as pictured, however I have to say this was relatively minor as the views from the hotel are more than stunning.

The location. So many stairs to town. Also when asked if we could park onsite (€20 per night) we were told they asked how many nights we were staying. We stayed 4 nights and they said it was “too much trouble” to accommodate us. They did point us in the right direction for a free car park about 500 meters away (up hill) and in a very dodgy location!

The view and location are good (beware if you are with kids or elderly people, you need to either take the car or many stairs to go up to Taormina center). The garden is nice, with plants and a relaxing atmosphere. The pool is also a really nice plus.

Our apartment looked good in photos, but in reality it was dated and had a strong humidity/mold smell in the bathroom, forcing us to keep the window open even in November. The worst part, though, was the customer service. It felt like they were fed up with tourists and just didn’t care. When we questioned why our Booking.com rate was nearly 80% higher than the price on their own website — after they told us booking through the platform was fine — the owner’s daughter brushed us off with a cold “That’s not my problem, call Booking.” Her attitude made us feel not just ignored, but openly disrespected. No attempt to understand, no apology, no gesture of goodwill, nothing. Overall: you pay for the view, and that’s where the value ends. Definitely not worth it unless you snag a last-minute discount. This experience left us with no trust in the property. Would not recommend.
