Residence Terra Rossa Taormina

The pool area is very nice, plenty of loungers, bar, limited on food and drinks but welcome. Fantastic views. Our bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room.

Pool loungers were uncomfortable. The only extras in the kitchen was a small sponge and washing liquid, nothing else, salt, pepper, oil, cloth to wipe the tops. The bathroom had 2 small bottles of body wash. It was very basic, not even a sharp knife. The room was not cleaned for our 8 night stay, no bed change, however our towels were changed twice and the rubbish was taken. A trip to the shops for a few things solved most issues. Don't be put off by these comments, the place is lovely.

A splendid location with beautiful views, a great pool with gardens, and a nice breakfast in a lovely cafe setting with indoor and outdoor seating.

The beds in the room are really comfy, it has a lovely big bathroom and a high powered shower which was great. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine and hob. It has aircon throughout although the one controller is for the whole apartment not individual rooms, The pool bar is very nice and has great snacks for lunch. The room was cleaned every 3 days. There are loads of restaurants and bars and shops up the hill in the centre, we preferred going up than down unless your going to the beach, taking the steps either way is the fastest route. The cable car goes up the hill past the resort so its not much use as you have to then come down the steps to get back to the resort which is about 15min walk down as the resort is about half way up the hill, the cable car is 8 euros each way.

Filters were not supplied with the coffee machine and we searched everywhere looking for them and no luck so bring some with you. Instructions for the induction hob would have been nice as we couldn't work it out at all even looked for a manual online which didnt really help Parking in the reserved carpark was 140 euros for the week which is great if you want your car close to your apartment but there is a car park just up the hill just 2 min walk that was never full the week we were there, but peak season might be different. Towels for round the pool are extra 5 euros so just take your own Breakfast was 15 euros each so we just made our own Tourist tax payable at the resort was 15 euros per person for the week i was aware of it as i read the small print but i imagine some people are not The room does need better cups they have very small coffee cups and being british i like a good brew of tea in a morning so we just bought two mugs from the souvenir shop only a few euros each On a personal level, this resort would be so much better if it was an adults only resort, it would just support the feel of the place so much better, it has a yoga retreat and is really nice and peaceful with the yoga on the mezzanine and relaxing round the pool bar, we go in october when children are normally in school and sadly encountered young children screaming and playing, as they do, which did bring the whole vibe down a bit to be perfectly honest i really would consider making it adults only if you want to continue the yoga retreats

The swimming pool is great, the bartender there is a nice guy.

On the first night our room (and the adjecent room) didn’t have electricity (while the other rooms of the hotel had so it wasn’t a breakdown affecting the whole area) which gave us the chance to experience the life of medieval Taorminians, except that we used our iPhones’ flash instead of candles. There was nobody at the reception after 8pm, and they haven’t reacted ever to our texts sent to the numbers associated with the hotel. When we brought up the topic regarding of the electrical deficit of last night the next morning, we got a plain “thanks for letting me know” and “sorry” twice, while they had plenty of options to make it a bit better.
