The location is unbeatable, the views of both the sea and mountains can’t be emphasised enough. We had great weather and were able to sit out each day and just enjoy the view and the peace and quiet. The hosts were so friendly and knowledgeable and told us lots of interesting information.

The house was spacious and a perfect view of the bay. The April weather was perfect to stay at this house. You needed the heat when you got up and the rest of the day was perfect. This location allowed us to travel and see places like the Aran Islands, and shop. I would stay here again.

Our host greeted us upon arrival and did a thorough walk through with us to show us around and how to operate everything. The home heats with wood stoves and a boiler so she helped get everything started and warmed up. The bedrooms suited us perfectly - we had 4 adults and 5 kids age 10-15 and the set up worked great. The home is very private but easy to find.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Glinsk Bay Holiday Rental in Connemara, Galway, and "perfect" doesn't even begin to describe it! The location is stunningly serene, with breathtaking views across the bay and the mountains as a picturesque backdrop. Every morning, we were greeted with the beauty of the landscape right outside the windows, reminding us we were in a truly magical place. The holiday home itself was cozy, charming, and beautifully maintained, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The house’s traditional Connemara charm paired with all the modern comforts made our stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing. From the warm interior to the lovely garden and surrounding stone walls, every detail added to the experience. The peacefulness of the bay and the surrounding countryside allowed us to disconnect from the usual hustle and bustle, while still having easy access to local amenities and the captivating sights of Connemara. This is truly a hidden gem, and we can't recommend it highly enough. If you're looking for a getaway where you can unwind and soak in Ireland's natural beauty, Glinsk Bay Holiday Rental is the place to be. We can’t wait to come back!

We stayed in this nice house 6 nights. We were 8 adults and two kids under two years. We felt so welcome and it was like being home. The house is so cozy and well prepared! Photographs do not do the views from this property any justice, they were stunning. We were incredibly lucky with the weather which no doubt helped. The house has everything you might need for a 2 week stay and the kitchen was well equipped. The nearest restaurant was a brisk 15 minute walk which was perfect. Our only issue was that a couple of the mattresses were not as comfortable as we would have liked but it didn't hamper our stay and would not stop me from recommending this house for a family get-a-way for anyone else. The owners made us feel very welcome.

I had a wonderful stay in this cottage. The cottage has all you need like home from home. It is located just a few metres from the sea with the Connemara mountains in the distance. Its idea for exploring the rugged coast, the mountains, the fjord and lochs. With many walks to enjoy. There is a nearby pub that serves great food. John and Mairead are super hosts.John keeps a distant but watchful eye and would be there to help should the need arise. I would recommend for families or smaller group. I spent a month there and was sad to leave. Thank you John it was a pleasure to have met you and to stay at your wonderful cottage.

The house is well situated for exploring the area. You've got the mountains of Connemara, the attractive coastline with many beaches, the Aran Islands off the coast reachable by ferry, the city of Galway, and further afield many other places to visit. The hosts are very helpful and provide everything that's needed in the house. All one needs is fine weather which we mostly had. Highly recommended.

The water views overlooking the bay & the12 Bens were stunning as they changed throughout the day--drizzle, wreathed clouds, and rainbows all at once. Overwhelming beauty. Conamara offers so many opportunities for adventuring: hiking, mountain climbing, sight-seeing, and eating (Killary Harbor mussels, & seafood chowders are a must). The 5-bedroom 3-bath house handled our flow of guests perfectly. Our hosts were generous and welcoming to a fault and were there when we needed them. The best 6-week vacation we have ever had over 30 years! The hosts were over-the-top solicitous.

This property was just as described. Well equipped, clean and a beautiful view of the 12 Pins and bay. The host John was so helpful and promptly answered any questions. Easy check in and lovely home. It was a great area, nice local pub about 5 minutes away, and the Glynsk cottage restaurant was at the end of the road. It is a bit remote as most of Connemara is, but the landscape is beautiful and we were with an hour to Rossaveel ferry to Aran Islands, and less Kylemore Abbey and Clifden. Highly recommend and hopefully will return again to The wonderful McDonough House.

In order to my 60. Birthday i asked my children if they want to make holiday with me on ireland. So we started last year to search a house for 5 adults and three childs up to 13 years. We saw pictures from this cottage and we booked it. For three families the house was perfect, the bathrooms are great, enough dishes, garden, water The owner and his wife came to ask if all it good, we talked a while and he told us the history of the cottage. Took this property for a big family birthday 6 adults and 4 children. Location was beautiful and the house perfect. Very good local restaurant within 15mins walk. John and Mairead were excellent hosts ensuring plenty of peat for the stove and all other needs met. Grandson aged 10, was only one of us to try pier jumping into the bay!! Wonderful drives to neighbouring towns and a great walking area. Too many stunning beaches to mention. All in all it was a perfect 2 weeks and the weather was kind to us as well.

Ten of us were celebrating a birthday at Glynsk cottage, we had a wonderful time. The cottage is very well situated in Connemara, very pleasant to live in, and has all facilities and fantastic views on the sea. Mairead and John, the owners, are ever so nice, kind and helpful. I only have praise for this house! John and Mairead clearly care for it greatly and their homely, personal touches can be seen throughout the entire house. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook, bake and enjoy time preparing meals. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and are well supplied with bedding, towels and new soaps and shampoos etc. The dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and tumble drier are in great condition and there is overflow fridge and freezer space in the small outhouse. The house is easy to heat with the log burning fire and central heating and while being spacious it never felt cold or drafty. There is so much exploring to do from the backdoor, and you don't need to drive for more than 15 minutes to be on white, sandy beaches and having a great adventure! We had our 11 month son with us and John provided a high chair, stair gate, baby bath, fire guard so we didn't need to bring any bulky items with us! Much appreciated and made our trip even easier! Thanks for making our stay so special and for decorating the house so beautifully for Christmas. We are sad to be home...! We can't wait to return!

I wanted my children to see why I love Connemara, and the McDonagh's home overlooking the bay at Glynsk was just perfect. Waking up to the sun rising on the 12 Ben's across the water was nothing short of magical. We learned to keep the peat fires going in short order and had a wonderful time exploring Clifden, Cong, Inis Mor and Westport. We needed help and Seamus came in literally 5 minutes. Highest recommendation!

This is a great property with very welcoming and helpful hosts. House is very clean and set in a marvellous location. Mountain, bog and sea scenery is magnificent. The house has a great double height kitchen and dinning area, and was ideal for the family gathering we had. Will return.
