Hostal Santa Rosa Cusco

This is a budget hostel, and you should thärfore not expect any luxury stay. Having said that, I found that everything was good and clean. This hostel is run by Salesian nuns and staff connected to Santa Rosa school, which is attached to and interconnected with the hostel. The staff and nuns there are extremely kind, helpful, and attentive to guests. The hostel must have previously been used by nuns or other members of the community, because the decor throughout is austere and full of paintings with religious content. If you're looking for a lively hostel with activity in the evening/night, you'd better look elsewhere, but if you want tranquility and near-total silence for sleeping, this is a good place.

If I understood correctly, the hostel is restarting operations, which were abruptly cut short by the pandemic. Because of that, there are still some things they need to sort out, and they told me they're working on it. For example, at the moment you can only pay in cash. The other thing is that after daytime hours (until 5 PM), you have to go around by the school side and ring the bell for them to let you in. I mean, until they sort these things out, it can be a bit confusing, but I never had any problems, even arriving late at night.

Es un hotel muy acogedor, ubicado en una zona muy tranquila, y a la vez muy cerca del centro activo de Cusco. La atención de la señora Olga y de Anabel en la recepción es muy cálida y amable. También muy ventajoso y excelente la posibilidad de hacer un check-in temprano. La habitación fue muy cómoda y suficiente para mi necesidad. Sus facilidades óptimas. El desayuno estuvo bien. Un buen lugar para hospedarse en Cusco. Seguramente volveré allí.

Very centrally located.

During check-in they said repeatedly that something went wrong on Booking and that we apparently paid too little (1/3rd of the actual price). They did not request us to pay extra, but during our entire 5-night stay they were not friendly and they treated us as criminals, although it was not our fault something went wrong on Booking. Breakfast was included and started at 7am. But we did some tours where we had to leave earlier than 7am and they did not want to give us a breakfast to go "because we did not pay enough" (were their exact words). WiFi in the room did not work properly. The only place the wifi sometimes worked sufficiently was downstairs near the reception. Small rooms. The scoring is considering the price we paid. If the price is normally 3 times higher, it's not worth the money.
