De Wiang Kum Kam

Very charming boutique hotel in traditional Thai wooden architecture which I love. Not the typical concrete, soulless hotel. Tons of Thai Charm. Room was large and we had an end unit with a large lanai. Staff was excellent, especially Mai. Owner lives on the property and he was very helpful as well. They drive you into the city in a nice Toyota sedan at the top of the hour upon request. Very nice feature and we greatly appreciated that. Breakfast was also very good. It is also located close to some ancient temple ruins. Just a 7 minute walk away. Right next door to a Temple so they ring some chimes early in the morning--beautiful way to start the day. I thought it was excellent value.

I would have given them an overall 9 rating but our toilet never worked property for the 6 nights we were there. We ended up using the pool bathrooms on the ground floor. The pool is small but that was OK but they had too much chlorine in the water. I would probably stay here again unless I really wanted to be back inside the Old City.

This guesthouse offers good value for money, but it has a serious issue: there are lots of mosquitoes and tiny bugs in the bed that cause itchy skin, which is unbearable. Everything else is perfect.

My only two issues with this guesthouse are lots of mosquitoes and small bugs, plus its hard‑to‑find location — all the lively spots are in the opposite direction.

Breakfast was wonderful, fresh, made to order, delicious and made with warmth and care. We loved it! The owners and staff truly treat you like family and try to go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. We really appreciated the early check in, train station pick up and one way drop off offer into the city which was very helpful. The property is simple, homely, but charming. A home away from home. We will be back again!!
