Château de la Comtesse

Fantastisch historisch pand, met goede voorzieningen, een ruime tuin en een heerlijk zwembad. Helemaal top! Prachtige verblijfslocatie voor ons gezin bestaande uit 4 stellen, 2 babies en 2 honden. Bij aankomst was het 41 graden Celsius (gelukkig de dagen daarna wat minder warm)! Het chateau heeft geen airco's nodig. De ramen op het juiste moment openen, de luiken op het juiste moment dicht, daarmee hielden we de temperatuur goed.

Er zijn in deze tijd van het jaar en op die locatie muggen in de avonduren. We hadden vast niet altijd ramen en luiken op het juiste moment open en dicht gedaan. Dus we hadden 's nachts wel wat last van muggen. Een klamboe over de bedden had wat prikken kunnen voorkomen. Nu hebben we het aantal prikken met smeren proberen te minimaliseren!

The place was incredible. It has everything you need, plenty of space, very quiet, great grounds, lovely pool, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

We would have rated this place much higher than we have. In fact, we were initially planning to give it a **10/10** and simply provide a few recommendations for improvement. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled after our stay completely changed our opinion. The house itself is charming but very old, as expected for a chateau and it shows. There is virtually no soundproofing, so conversations from neighbouring rooms can be heard clearly, and there are several areas that would benefit from renovation. This was not an issue at all. I am only setting up the scene. On the day we arrived, one member of our group placed a suitcase on the floor beside a wall, and a section of plaster unexpectedly fell away from a low corner. The suitcase did not hit the wall, and there was no intentional damage or excessive force. Given the age of the property and the condition of the plaster, it appeared to be a pre-existing weakness. We arrived during the nearby wildfires, with smoke-filled skies, travelling with eight adults, a toddler and a baby, and unfortunately this incident was not communicated to me, as the person who made the booking, before we checked out. After our departure, the owner contacted me about the damage. I explained exactly what had happened and apologised that it had not been reported sooner. Despite this, €100 was deducted from the €1,000 security deposit. While I understand that repairs may have been necessary, I found this disappointing given the circumstances and what appeared to be an unavoidable issue in an older property. There are also some areas where the property could be improved: We saw small cockroaches in several areas of the house, including in the kitchen and even on top of the dining table. The overall cleaning could be more thorough, particularly dusting and removing cobwebs from corners. Not all bathrooms were stocked with hand soap, which we feel is a basic necessity for guests.

La propiedad es mejor que lo que se ve en las fotos y el edificio está estupendamente renovado con amplias habitaciones con baño, salón y comedor muy amplios y una excelente cocina con mucha vajilla y cubertería.

Absolutely stunning chataeu in the French countryside, with beautiful modern heated swimming pool. Lots of lovely castle-like features and all useful amenities (kitchen, bbq, toys, books etc) included.

Two of the bedrooms are adjoined and you had to pass through the twin room to get to the shared bathroom which was fine for us with small children, but probably wouldn't work with teenagers.
