Bjørgo Gard - Stegastein

Beautiful location, right near Stegastein, above Aurland - on a farm

Needed to pay extra for linens; challenging stairs to get to upstairs bedroom

Place of the house was wonderfull

The view at this place is incredibly. Although not facing the fjord itself you have all of the highlands around. Being on top of the mountain past all the viewpoints you get as high up as you can. There's a grill and table outside to enjoy the view.

The drawback of the location is the 20-30 minutes steep mountain ride up. This needs to be factored in. The road up the lodge is also incredibly bad and driving up, even being incredibly careful, we hit the car undercarriage twice going back and forth. If you have a proper 4WD with high ground clearance you'll be fine but with a normal Kombi/Sedan like we drove, you'll have a challenge. The linens aren't included (as stated in the property description) and I had to ask to figure out where to go to check in, many apparently get lost but there was no information provided. It also mean another wrong drive up the road just to go back down again. The washing machine was broken. The general state of the cottage is old and rural, so it's good to set your expectations. It's fine but definitely no hotel and the utilities are old. There is, as per the description, no wifi and the TV has only two Norwegian channels.
