Don Ugo Luxury Rooms

Great location and communication!

Don Ugo Luxury Rooms is very conveniently located in the centre of Tropea, with the beach about a 10-minute walk away via the stairs. Our room was renovated and well maintained, and the housekeeping team did an excellent job. A particular highlight was the arrangement with Lido Isola Bella: mentioning that we were staying at Don Ugo gave us complimentary sunbeds and an umbrella, saving €10 per person per day.

We had not realised when booking that our room had no window. Without natural daylight, it was difficult to get a sense of the time of day or the weather outside. This would be an important consideration for us when booking again. Free Wi-Fi was available, but it was so slow that it was impractical to use. I used mobile data on my phone instead. If you arrive by car, finding parking can be challenging, even in the paid spaces costing €28 per day. After reading many positive comments about breakfast, we were disappointed and preferred to eat at a nearby café. We can definitely recommend NonnaRosa.

Don Ugo is a family-owned business, and you can feel it throughout the property. It's creative, friendly, and very humane. The rooms are cleaned daily, the beds are comfortable, tidy, and have beautiful views of the sunset and the sea. In addition, the owners also have a private beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas, and an excellent restaurant. Sunbeds are free for Don Ugo guests :) We highly recommend it.

The location was 10/10, but that was pretty much the only good thing about this property

The bathroom was gross, the shower had black mould all over the shower head. Definitely not cleaned properly. The rooms themselves were just ok, definitely not standard king beds they were more like queen.
