Crown and Anchor Inn

We had both dinner and breakfast and they were both excellent. Dinner was in fact too much for us to finish, but we really enjoyed it. Breakfast, which in my case was the cooked breakfast, was a great start to the day. The room was comfortable, and the night was very quiet. We slept well. The staff on both days were very friendly and helpful. We have alrerady decided we will use this hotel again, for further exploration of the Moray coast.

Nothing to do with the hotel, but that the nearby RAF Kinloss is no longer an operational Maritime Patrol base seems to me to be a crime against the defense of this country.

Findhorn is a lovely village and the hotel is well located in it-overlooking the bay and with good views of a lovely sunset. The room was warm and comfortable and the food lovely.

Staff were lovely and welcoming. Comfortable and very clean room. Slept very well even with storm Amy blowing a gust outside.

Our shower would lose pressure and come back on with freezing cold water. Lack of plug sockets to charge things easily. We had no signal on our TV (may have been the storm) and was programmed to always turn on, on the adult channel!

We had breakfast and dinner both nights, and both were really good. I have a daily allergy and the staff were more than happy to accommodate food to meet my needs. Only one downside is that there was no non-dairy spread to have with my toast for breakfast - some flora would easily have met that, and I heard another guest ask for this too, but hotel didn't have any! The staff upon checking in/out, and when at the bar/restaurant were all really helpful and friendly.

I was in room 6. The room was clean, however, there was a large damp patch on the wall above the bed which let the room down a little. Also, there was no extractor fan in the tiny shower room which meant it got very steamy and there was some damp around the shower screen as a result of that. Also the room was advertised as a sea view - there was a window where you could see the sea, however, this view was obstructed by a tall chest of drawers in the way and you could only view the sea if you stood right at window. It was not able to be seen from the bed or the seating area which is a shame. A reorganisation of the furniture would be better. Also the pictures of the car park on the website made it look bigger and it was tight to get in some of the spaces when car park was busy!

We were concerned at just how basic the room was when we arrived, and the toilet & small shower was behind a sliding door, with the sink positioned in the bedroom. However, the bedroom was clean, with good quality linen and towels & we had a good night's sleep. Check in was easy. The evening meal in the bar was lovely. There is a good selection of typical bar food on the menu, and a well stocked bar. Sparklingly clean glasses for our drinks, which always impresses. The staff on duty were excellent during our stay. The Crown & Anchor is in an ideal spot, with fantastic views over the river and lots of wildlife. It's within easy walking distance of the spectacular Findhorn beach too.

The room would definitely benefit from a refurb; but if basic, clean & tidy is what you're looking for, then it ticks the box.

Room clean, staff friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.

The room was very small with nowhere to sit but on the bed. We had our dog with us and that meant even more restricted floor room.

The parking availability was good, the room was very clean, cosy, compact but comfortable. It was surprisingly quiet, which was a relief.

All the staff very friendly, the restaurant offers a good choice for evening meals. Food is always piping hot and good size portions. Comfortable bed. Room was very clean. Findhorn Bay is beautiful, especially when you see it in the sunshine.

Our room was very small, no room for a wardrobe. However, there were coat hooks and a few hangers and drawers. No room for sink in shower/toilet but there was one in the bedroom. Would have like cereal/continental option for breakfast, only cooked options.

Position was ideal so close to the sea. Room small but all necessary things there.

A very uninspiring breakfast and also dinner menu. No fruit or cereals at breakfast - just straight to the main course with cheap bread. Tiny bedrooms and shower room with really no space for our two small suitcases!

The best location for a stay in Findhorn

A local competitor offered a far better experience.

The room was very compact and cosy, bathroom very small with a small shower cubical. Walls are quite thin so you can hear others.

The bed was clean and fairly comfortable. Good location, but for the price tag not worth revisiting.

Was hard to check in as staff blanked us at the bar. Room was tiny, barely room to walk around bed. Shower run down and mucky. Basic toiletries considering the price tag. Almost impossible to make a cup of tea as no space. Washbasin in room rather than toilet.

The only thing I don’t like about the room was the shower didn’t work properly , no pressure . Room was drafty( old building) imagine it would be chilly in the winter ..

Great location and staff all very pleasant and friendly, food looked really nice but wasn't hungry.

Overall accommodation was a bit yesterday but clean & tidy, biggest problem was the shower, cold, hot, no water or just a drizzle, and in the morning just cold so couldn't shower.
