Buttonwood Belize

The location and parking.

I really liked everything but the bed could be more comfortable.

Wow. Well, you have to know that I was looking for a place where there would be little "to do," where I could stop and take a deep breath, and just relax and enjoy. Buttonwood, and Coconut Row, which manages it, absolutely fit the bill. The front of the room, which the bed faced, opens onto a deck facing the Caribbean, like 30 yards away. To the right, a few feet from the water, is a little beach shack restaurant where the Garifuna drummers come out every late afternoon. Coconut Row, an easy walk away, has a great restaurant. The room came with bicycle access, and I spent a lot of time riding. The town of Hopkins is small and, it's off season, very quiet. The people everywhere are kind and friendly. The Buttonwood, Coconut Row staff are amazing. I was always called by my name. The woman managing it all was amazing. And I met the owner who, although obviously has to earn a living and pay staff, seems to have the joy of his guests as the first priority. If you're looking for Cancun, don't vacation here. If you're looking for a real break, joy, and relaxation, yup!
